Question Will 325mm wide tires fit on stock body Z?

Mods, I'm posting this in FI section as well since this group most likely has either done it or has attempted it.

Here is the other thread in the Tire Section.

https://my350z.com/forum/wheels-and-tires/339082-has-anyone-fit-a-325mm-wide-tire-on-stock-body-z.html

Thanks,
Ron

It may be possible depending on which tires were used (actual tread width), the wheel offsets/spacers, ride height, wheel diameter, and your camber adjustments. I'd definitely recommend getting a fender rolling tool and rolling it out so it's completely flat against the outside fender wall.

Personally, I wouldn't think the extra 20mm would be worth the hassle considering you'd most likely have to run more camber to fit it.

Oh, and if money isn't an option I'd consider finding some R compounds. You'll tear through them faster but you'll definitely get better traction without all of the fitment issues. There's a thread going on about it in the tire/wheel section.

It will not fit...I have tried ! You will have to do body work to go wider than 305-315. I am using 305 and even my rims are at its limit....they are a coin distance from the shocks.

On the Z or the G? I'm not sure if the fitments are the same on both cars.

Thanks Craig. I'm currently running 305mm dropped 1" and -1.5 camber. It seems like there might be enough to get another 10mm on each side without tweaking the camber.

I think its possible. With a cut/shaved fender and the plastic guard removed from the upper portion of the shock tower, you may be able to fit a 325mm/ 12.8” section width tire back there But you will need everything adjusted perfectly and you may not want to push your car to hard on the track or into tight curves. Given those potentially risky situations, I don't feel it would be worth it in looks alone. I personally would find some sticky 305's or 315's.

As you can see in post #31, I conservatively measured the plastic housing to the un-cut fender lip and came up with 12".

With a 325 back there, you've diminished any space for wheel flex in the verticle axis. One reason I’m not pushing it beyond 305’s... I like the twisties

^ Thanks! It's looking doubtful. I wish this car had a bigger butt.

Wrong. I have a 315 on my rear on my CCW wheel and drive aggresively. No rubbing. I can definately fit a 325 as well on my rolled fenders.. It all depends on your offset/wheel width. Ron has his fender cut? Which i'm sure theres even more clearance.

Hmmmm, maybe I'll give it a try. The wheels are 11" wide and +32 offset.

jeremy... what is your camber at? i wonder how well those tires would fit if you leveled off the camber and rode on the whole tire?

you would also loose clearance if the wheel was wider and allowed the tires to unwrap on the edges a little.

Are you looking for better traction? If you are wider is not the answer. Get a set o f the new Toyo R888's. I have them an they are quite an amazing difference from summer compound tires.
