Pre-turbo water injection: has anyone done it?
Yes but that is after the air has already been compressed(which is near the outlet), I am refering to spraying inside the actual snail.
Bottom line: to increase compressor efficiency.
Just to take a quick example (all formulas for calculations at this link, with the following assumptions: 3.54L engine, 15.3 psi running at 7000 rpms, VE is 90%):
If the temperature after the turbo is 200 F, calculated theoretical horsepower is 440.
If the temp drops to 140 F, horsepower climbs to 483.
If the temp drops to 100 F, horsepower climbs to 518.
Significant gains are to be had by increasing turbo efficiency. It's why we have intercoolers, but unlike intercoolers the efficiency gained is not associated with a pressure loss (which counteracts the gain as the turbo has to pump more air).

Well I think I can conclusively say this doesn't work. Sharif proved it on the dyno today. Data to follow but reported immediate 20 whp power loss with preturbo spray on (dual aquamist .3 mm nozzles) vs just pre-TB spray. Might wait till ZdayZ before disclosing new #s from pre-TB W/M injection.
Anyway, I'm ripping out my preturbo tubing next chance I get.

I am good friends with a guy with g35 down in palm beach fl who has a greddy kit fitted with gt30r's ... his turbos were running out of breath due to the small piping on the greddy kit. Not sure if g35 kit differs from the 350z kit.
Long story short he ran pre turbo meth only. His goal was to condense the air to allow better flow through the pipes ? Not sure the final outcome of his project, but he claimed no increase in power as well.
this was the car.... and it was done at Billet Design Motorsports .... you can call them to see if they ever got positive results from it...

That's a nice looking intake manifold but I wonder if the volume may be tapering top end power rather than pipe size. The Greddy kits in standard form have made great power. I don't think GT30s are going to be limited by Greddy pipe size, which I think are at least 2 inch going to 3 inch after the IC. Now the JWT kit has a 2.5" section that receives air from both turbos - that does need addressing.
