I've seen quite a few people (not just here) say they regret not getting a more powerful EMS system.
I'm curious. Would most people just jump to the Fcon, or is there a necessity to go to something even more high end like a dedicated standalone and just wire the factory ECU in enough to control gauges and basic chassis features.
I ask because *should* I manage to afford an FI build I'd like to start by picking up an EMS (obviously would talk to the tuner I'd be using first - but knowledge is always good) and getting the car running right in relatively stock form on the EMS, then start working from there.
So is it needed to go stand alone, or would an fcon pro be more sufficient for most people.
I should mention - I'd intend to do a small twin custom setup (just for the sake of doing it myself, I really like learning to do stuff with projects like this). My boost goal would be 8-9 psi stock block.
Any comments on fuel pump regrets or other fuel system components?

Being that my build is almost complete and I used RC 750 CC injectors, would you mind sharing why you regret that decision yourself? I obviously won't just go switch them out because your goals and setup may be different, but understanding what the problems were, can definitely help me and others on here.
Thanks in advance.

regrets-no, painful knowledge acquisition-yes
My car is a bit of an odd ball...at, built mtr cams/valves, JWT 530 kit, V-pro, NeoGen 10" rear tires... I put a lot of trust (&$$$) in people who were "experts". This is/was the dumbest this I did, but as one gets burned, one gets motivated to learn and get good info. This site is terrific.
Mine is a street at car with tiny turbos... With my set up the mx hp I will ever get is ~ 400 so why were cams and valves done and CATs removed? There are some low speed and idle issues, check engine lite (too rich) problems and an emissions dilemma.
@ 10psi boost the rear 10" tires just spin so what is the point any way...maybe all this could have been pointed out? I believe so but...no regrets I am (maybe) wiser for future bs. To the extent possible I do the work myself now.

2 regrets
I really only have 2 regrets about going FI. 1st I didn't give credence to how hard it was to drive a beast like this everyday (full work TT engine and suspension). Really, most cars like mine are not a daily driver but I thought it could be.
2nd, I didn't take it to Sharif 1st. Honestly, I would have save thousands if I had him do it the right way 1st. I have driven my car for almost 2 years with 0 issues since Sharif did it.

nice thread. thanks for everyones helpful input.
are most of you with "built" motors running fully built heads, blah blah, etc. or are there any guys running just rods and pistons? seems to me that our heads are just fine the way they are for FI applications. of course you can gain from cams, etc. but for those of you just looking for a lil bit more boost and safety; anyone with just rods and pistons?

I regret...
* Buying my parts so early.... I have pauter rods and aries pistons still sitting in boxes that I bought in 2005
* going with a 100% custom built exhaust. Overall it has turned out okay, however it was a real labor headache. (However having a TOP NOTCH welder replace the tips on my cans saves me the burnt+smoke on my bumper!)
* Not engine related (Too much stereo! The extra 6k I spent there could have installed my engine)
