Default GReddy kit uprgrade turbos???

i KNOW i saw a thread a while back that had a few different places that either sold new turbos that would bolt to the GReddy manifolds, and others that upgraded the existing 18Gs to 20Gs etc. i cant find that thread again. so, if someone knows exactly which thread, or knows of places that have the turbos, that would be great, as i am afraid i might have to replace/rebuild one of the turbos from the used kit i got

DeadBolt, Turbochargers.com, and Forced Performance can all upgrade the 18g's to 20g's. I personally wouldn't go with Turbochargers.com tho.

the real problem is that even though you can ugrae the internals of the turbos, you are still stuck with that tiny 2" in/out turbine housing!

you be better off cutting off the 3bolt flange and have an expert welder weld pn a v-band adapter so that you could easily add a variety of turbos to those manifolds.

Yeah thats a good idea, but that requires more fab work then your average person can take on.

If your doing the 20g upgrade I would also do the tdo6 upgrade as well. This will help out the exhaust side as well as the intake. Deadbolt rates this turbo at 525hp each.

as of now im fine with the output i expect with the 18Gs, but like i said, i bought the kit used, and fear one of both turbos may need rebuilding. thought i might as well upgrade them if they had to be rebuilt

Shariff was using the 20Gs or the 60-1 hybrids. I have the 60-1 hybrids as well but have no dynos as of yet. I think it's a decent upgrade even though the housing is the limiting factor especially if your turbos need a rebuild. Might as well spend a little more and get the big wheels put in.

i wanna see the graph because i wanna see what the boost transition looks like. the last time i messed with upgrading a turbo it made it a hell of a lot more laggy with hardly any increase in power potential... so i want to make sure that if i do it that its worth it. right now the turbos come on very nice, i am curious how the upgraded ones "come on" in comparison.

If I remember correctly, the 20g wheel is 44lb. Deadbolt said the biggest they could fit is a 55lb wheel. With the 55lb wheel the td06 turbine wheel is a must, or a clipped td05. This turbo should be good for atleast 25psi on the greddy kit.

I wouldn't recommend upgrading the turbos (to a 20g) unless you plan on consistently making over 700rwhp. Just my opinion...

I have yet to see any 3.5L VQ make over 700whp even with the upgraded snails on a Greddy kit.

Thats cause no one has pushed them past 20 psi... not that many tuners are comfortable with going big...
