Our cars come equipped with a oil cooler/warmer, which is located where your oil filter is installed. Hopefully one of those lines are leaking, or the adapter itself.

If the coolant was in your oil, you would be able to tell right away, unless your running the Evans NPG.

The OEM cooler has 2 purposes, One is to heat up your oil to proper operating temps with the coolant, and second to keep it cool once operating temps have been met.

If you bypass it, and add an external oil cooler I guess that would be ok, but, you still would not be warming up the oil as quickly as it used to. So its a trade off.

I looked at the exploded diagram in the service manual CD, I don't see any reference to the weep hole but I'm sure it's there for a reason. If it were me I'd just pull the oil cooler out and look at it, or replace it. The cooling water lines can just be pinched to hold the cooling water remove filter then the threaded part that the filter screws onto unscrews from the lower pan and releases the oil cooler.

There is an o-ring in there that seals oil in so if it were me I'd have a new cooler and o-ring in hand prior to starting. I think you may have damaged the cooler by over tightening the oil filter.

Good luck, looks like an easy fix...

I looked the cooler up from nissan it's 252 bucks, at that price I think I'd just look at an after market cooler.

it will be fine. that cooler doesn't have enough capacity to really cool the oil down. It's main purpose is to help get the oil up to operating temps as fast as possible as this reduces emissions and that is of the utmost priority for OEMs.

there has been debate over the usefullness of the stock oil warmer/cooler...I think Nissan pretty much ended the debate when they eliminated it on the HR version of the VQ. The HR does not have it. So, I fell safe in telling you that its okay to bypass/remove it from you car.

I removed mine and have had no troubles.

With a $250 price tag, I would most likely remove it and run an external cooler as well...

True, My point is that with the cost of the OEM cooler it would be just as well to spend the extra money for a higher capacity oil cooling system.
