Strange power cut out on hard rpm shifts after motor build
We put my built motor in last week and it was tuned on Friday. Power is amazing given I have a sedan with the smaller fuel delivery line than the coupe or Z and we still made 538/490 on 91 pump gas.
But now for the problem. When I drive normal or semi aggressive things are fine. When I am full throttle and take it to almost rev limit the electrical system blips when I shift. For an example on a 2nd or 3rd gear hard shift the headlights, stereo, UTEC and all my gauges reset. I believe my ECU is also resetting. They don't stay off for any amount of time, just a quick blip but it's enough to be scary...
I have been going over all the grounds and have not found an issue yet. Does anyone have any other ideas of things I may need to check?

No I said above the UTEC is cutting out. But thanks for the reply.
This isn't a mis-fire, it is a full cutout when I shift hard. I would swear something is loose or a ground is missing but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
I have added larger grounds all over the motor and put a larger ground to the UTEC and ECU mount.
It seems like there is a large surge of power when I shift or something. This sucks...

wow, really hard to tell what could be happening. may sound simple, but have you checked to make sure your battery connections are tight? if your whole elec system is shorting, i would expect that you will find the problem pretty quick as something may melt! carry a fire extinguisher. not trying to scare ya, but if anyone has done any mods to there car, one is required!!
Maybe check the large fuses and relays, pull them all out and inspect for burn or corossion. Check the large fuses on the battery connector, they could be tweaked too. Could the power wires for the starter be shorting against the oil drain tube/hose only when you jolt the car with a hard run? All I can think of right now, good luck!

not sure what the problem is but man, it seems like a waste to drive a beast like that with a utec controlling it. hate to point fingers but if i had to, thats one of the first things i would think about.
Thanks everyone for the ideas. I'm going to keep looking over everything and hopefully have better luck tonight.
I do plan to upgrade from the UTEC down the line. It was perfect on my stock block TT setup but now I would like to go with something better.

tim,
i had a similarly odd electrical issue recently. it turned out to be a loose + terminal on my battery. I chnaged the battery a while back and the new battery's terminal was a little smaller than the stock nissan terminal. after some time, the terminal had wiggled loose and if I hit a hard bump, it would jar the terminal just enough for all the gauges on the dash to drop to zero and then reset themselves.

The other thing I could think of was that I added an extra 0ga line from my alternator to my battery. I will remove that tonight and see if the problem goes away.
