Default boost gauge not reading boost

I just installed my boost gauge and it turns on fine but it will not show my boost going up when I accelerate. I checked the vacume line and it was working fine. it is a prosport gauge and I followed the directions that came with it except the part that said run a T fitting to the fuel fegulator and the surge tank from the boost sensor. What I did was just run the the vacume line from the boost sensor to the surge tank (plenum). I was told that the fuel regulator line was not needed.

why would you need fuel pressure to know boost pressure?

electric sender? Dont know much about prosport gauges.

I have a prosport mechanical gauge. I just T-ed it off the vacuum line. Works fine for me.

So at idle my boost gauge sits at 22inHg. I guess this is because a vortech has a bypass valve. When it gets into boost the bypass valve closes thats when I see the needle get into psi. Does this make sense?

id expect it to be around 20 at idle and then get to boost once you step on it. Remember, the bpv has to shut and then you pressurize the system, takes a little time.

How accurate are those gauges?

I don't know how accurate they are yet, but maybe by adjusting the bypass valve I can have it idle at 20. I think I read a thread on here that 20 is the norm.
