I have my front OEM bumper cut and it fully exposes the intercooler. I also have my gauges on my pillar and even thru the tint you can see them lit up and still have never had issues with the law. I don't subject myself to bust meets and or drive around like a maniac. I have even had a chippie pull up right next to me at a stop light and nothing. I got pulled over for exhaust and they even inspected the car and no citation. We have a bunch of meet here in Cali but just be safe on what meets you attend as some are known to be drag race gathering which are a complete bust. If you want to go FI in Cali just use common sense and if pulled over be 100% cooperative and you will be suprised how many officers will let you go.

I am basically in the same situation as you DRIFT I have the car at GTM right now being built, twins and stroker and I live in Sacramento,CA. So basically it is a very big risk but...im still taking it And my DD is a Titan, Z is for the weekends. It's really up to you man, you just need to be very cautious driving around. If anything, just tell the cops it came stock like that, I wouldn't doubt if they believed you

+1
Very true though. Honestly most cops like being dicks because your a dick to them. Just cooperate and like he said you'd be very surprised from what happens.

Good luck on your decision!

A question for you Cali guys - If I venture south into your socialist paradise with my turbo'ed, emissions deleted car, even if its got Oregon plates, can I still get a ticket/my car inspected/whatever the commies do there? Or do these rules only apply to CA registered cars?

Unfortunately, no matter how careful you are, all it takes is that one cop who is just a dick or does know what they are looking at. I now know of at least 5 different people that have gotten popped and some of them only had intake and exhaust. It's a big risk. It's all about whether you are willing to take that risk. Here is someone on G35Driver that got popped for intake, headers and exhaust.

I think but I may be wrong they can not enforce anything since your car is registered out of state. If I am wrong someone correct me on this.

Wasn't there some forum member that got a ticket after he picked up his car from GTM, and I believe he was on his way back to Washington or Oregon or something?!?!

it was a guy (Josh) from the bay area. Installed a TT kit then made the drive to GTM for a tune. On the trip back got cited for modified exhaust etc. Now he's gotta see the ref. I believe if you search the Nor Cal section you'll find the thread.

That sucks, I am glad I live in Texas. Plenty of long straight roads and twisties with little B.S. from the Cops. Around here if you just dont act like an idiot then you are ok.

ok who is the ref? the judge? are you telling me you can be hassled fined etc etc because you choose to put mods on your car in california? If thats true its just another reason all homos and democrats should move there along with all the damn liberal judges and hopefully it would break off into the ocean...**** california...freaking communist state.
if I were to get hassled like that here in Texas I would have my attorney up the cops *** so fast it would make his head spin..

You can pass emmisions, but if you fail the visual inspection, which anyone with TT's would, passing the sniffer test has absolutely no effect. That's California for you

They send people to the referee for exhausts & intakes... I think that says enough

Thanks for all the input guys. Im still pretty undecided. I need to get a ride in a TT car and feel the magic to make sure it's worth the risk. My plan is to keep the ZR for along time so that makes the built and stroked SC set-up more appealing. Down the road Im hoping to have the resources to get an exotic so this just needs to hold me over for now.
