Default Boosted in Cali

I'm very close to starting my FI project but concerned about getting a referee ticket living in The People's Republic of Kalifornia and having to take it all off.

The plan is to have the work done at GTM and I have had several conversations with Sam who has been incredible in talking me through all of my options.

If you live in Cali and have FI please tell me your thoughts on this. Am I being overly concerned? Who has been pulled over and had to see the ref?

Please describe your experiences and thought process prior to going FI and now that you are boosted in Cali.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Interesting, but Im not so concerned with passing emissions as I believe there are ways to make that happen. Im more concerned with the po po peaking under the hood and wondering about all the extra hardware.

I used to have a boosted Civic, boosted accord, evo 8 (stock turbo with mild engine mods) and currently have a boosted Z and hopefully a boosted vette, not once got caught (knock on wood). I never used any of those as my DD so Im guessing that's why. I have a nissan altima to drive daily to keep the cops away, it will cost you $$/time if you ever get caught...just be prepared. IMO, I work my behind off to have a decent hobby and cops will not stop me from having some fun ... just my

If you go TT you will hardly see some hardware under the hood, ST and SC ( its like cops seeing krispy kreme donuts under your hood) it will be right on their face when they pop your hood..

Yeah thats true but the IC in the front is pretty obvious, though I guess it could be hidden behind a grill. The ref will be much better informed if it ever gets to that point.

If you keep the stock bumper and grill your set, cant really see the IC. I used to have my stock grill and decided to cut it off for a better air flow...

No matter what, if you chose to go FI in Cali, you are taking a big risk. That's why I went with a Vortech over twins. I figured that being CARB exempt at least gives me a fighting chance if I ever did get ticketed. With a T/TT, you have no chance if you get popped. Even if you do pass the sniffer test, you will not pass the visual inspection. It's all on you man. It's your choice whether you wanna take the risk or not.

dude, i have had boosted cars all my adult life, was NA to FI, just dont do anything stupid all the time. have your eyes wide open for cops. they dont know about boost gauges, and afr gauges, and FMIC. they are retarded. trust me, i have been stopped so many times, and they look and are too intimidated to ask whats what. if anything, they always complimented me on my cars.

Cali boost forever!

Go with something legal like Vortech SC, then you won't have to worry about it at all.
