Default Are turbonetics kits any good?

I heard they used to mess up a/c lines. DId turbonetics make them any better now or do they still have problems?

The kit is flawed in design. intake temps are high, melting A/C lines, crappy engine management, no boost control, no head room for power... but hey, the turbo looks cool

For the money they seem to be a good kit but they seem to be hit or miss. Some guys on here have no problems at all and some have a lot of problems with this kit. I would have to guess that the installation is an important part of getting it to work flawlessly. The whole a/c issue can be resolved by relocation of the lines and controlling the heat off the turbo with a blanket and shielding the a/c lines. I would suggest getting at least a utec and have it properly tuned as someone should with any FI kit. Unfortunatly Turbonetics doesn't sell a tuner kit so after you buy a utec you are close to the price of the new Powerlab single turbo kit, which has more horsepower potential.

Turbonetics kits are like virtually every other FI application for the Z - they have their drawbacks.

The proper question to ask would have been - "is the turbonetics kit right for me?"

And to answer that we need more details - do you plan on doing supporting mods? Are you going to use the stock block? How much power do you want to make?

for 400rwhp it is a great kit....make sure u wrap the crap out of the ac lines and some other things by the manifolds etc....
u can pick up a used one along with a utec/exhaust cheap...get it installed and tuned...good to go...

I would go with the PowerLAB kit or the new SFT ST kit.

Just my opinion

If you have a stock car and plan on running low boost, around 350-380whp then the TN kit is a nice over all kit. However if you have many mods on the car, I'd look else where.

It seems people with next to stock cars do pretty good with the TN kit, it's when people are using a boost controller, with other random mods where the motors seem to blow up.

If you want any room for more power down the road, look at the powerlabs kit or any other turbo kit IMO the TN kit is not a good investment for bigger power.

Nice bolt on turbo kit, but dont plan on making a lot of power unless you replace a lot of things, new waste gate, utec, bigger injectors, yada yada.. might as well buy something else at that point.

This is a great thread to read up on if you are interested in the kit. Seems like an excellent quality kit, especially now since the turbo is water cooled, and as for the AC lines and heat, header wrap and even some of GTMs AC lines will take care of that.

I'll be running the Turbonetics kit on a built motor with nitrous, hoping to get into the 11s. Hell if it blows I might be looking at something else but it's just money.
