The wait is over!

After several delays I got the car back last Saturday and have only put about 200 miles on it so far. While we didn't make our #'s goal the car really feels strong. Sam told me the dyno #'s are 413 hp and 423 tq. I'm sure he will post pics and the dyno graphs when he gets a chance.

I'm still getting used to the car but it really is a blast to drive. I certainly wish we could have come closer to the 500/500 mark but maybe there are some tweaks down the road to squeeze a bit more out of it. The torque and linear feel of the SC are really nice. The car is very driveable for the streets, the idle is smooth, and my MPG seems to be considerably better (25+ mpg on the street). I can't hear the exhaust note nearly as well now cuz I hear the SC quite a bit but the noise levels are not bad at all (top up or down). The CAMP2 is very cool and gives a ton of info which has been integrated into the nav screen so I can toggle between the Nav and the CAMP with just a flick of a switch. The only additional gauges are the HKS Knock Amp and the GTM IC Temp so it looks relatively stock which is what I wanted being in Cali.

The IC is a bit small for this set-up so that may be upgraded in the future along with some other modifications. I dont know what else to say other than I'm a little bummed by the #'s but overall the car has really been transformed. There is nothing like driving with boost! I highly recommend it to anyone considering FI and would not hesitate to tell you to take it to Sam at GTM.

wow, 413 hp/423 trq on a 4.0L. Thats nice torque. And being in Cali, your build route us the only way to legally get those #'s. Although for a ~$20,000 build, i can empthasize with your bummed feeling about the numbers!

Did you dyno the stroked motor without the blower? That should be close to 300 hp by itself, so the blower added about the same HP as it did on the stock motor.

For bigger carb cert power, sell the HKS and put a T-trim Vortech on there. GTM has done 1 or 2 of those at 500 hp. Your build really puts a stamp on the fact that the HKS might be a nicer unit than a vortech, but cant make anywhere near the power.

I believe Sam did dyno the built 4.0L motor without the SC and if I recall correctly it was right around 300 hp.

This does seem to be the limit of the HKS SC. Perhaps a T-trim Vortech is an option. Thanks for the suggestion.

Sounds like a cool build, but I'm wondering why all the expensive headwork was done...

Another update:

Car went back to GTM because it was running really hot. The SC was generating tons of heat so it was knocking pretty easily and the Knock Amp was pulling timing. Wasnt getting the power out of it and it needed to be fixed.

Sam went to work on a plan and we decided to put on an Aquamist HFS-5 water injection system. Just got it back last weekend and it seems to be alot better. Still putting down about 400/400 but it feels alot better. The weather has been quite a bit cooler since I got it back so it's hard to compare but temp doesnt seem to be an issue anymore even if Im on boost a fair bit. This little piggy sure sucks down the petrol but then again that could just be the way Im driving. Also, the Aquamist needs to be filled each time I get gas.....unless I drive it much easier which I will probably do in the future. It's just so damn much fun to get all that torque pushing you around. Good stuff and well done Sam!

This route is not for the impatient or those on any kind of a budget (mine got blown out of the sky) but it is very nice to have this kind of power delivered safely and reliably. It really feels similar to driving a V-8.....like a C-6 Vette or even better. I think Sam will post more info shortly but Im happy to answer any questions if I can. Im still a noob but Ive learned alot through this process. Hoping to get the car out to some meets now so others can check it out.
