need advice getting 400whp AT vortech 2.87
I was considering a number of options to get over 400whp on my setup. Currently, my mods are in signature, I am looking to up the power another 40whp and hopefully a fair amount of torque. I figure this is a good goal because it basically is maxing a couple things out before i need to drop another big chunk of cash.
I am looking for the best bang for buck for acceleration purposes. I will be getting bigger tires before anything else, aiming 295 - 305 range. After that, i plan to do some of the following: valve body upgrade (maybe SGP), torque converter (not sure if this very beneficial), headers, intake manifold (kinetix SSV maybe), larger injectors. I could also throw in cams, but i know this the most pricey of all these options.
With an auto, which of these are going to be worthwhile modifications. This is my daily driver, but as the new cars come out i must make sure to keep a respectable edge for the Z community. I dont plan to put more than 2-3k with my next step up, so i figure that limits to maybe 3 of the above upgrades.
Also, with these figures, i dont track the car, but is a oil cooler or tranny cooler in order as well?
Thanks for the advice, hoping people with experience with these mods might shed more value to certain items over others.

I'm sure all the vortech guys will chime in a few...
Maybe try modding your plenum, with either a spacer or a new plenum. Cams will add some horses too. You could add some new gears. Its not going to add any power but it will make the Z quicker...

If you are looking to get more power from your 5AT with Vortech, I would start by uping your injectors. I would go 600cc; so that you don't max out your injectors. Going with a larger pulley will help as well. Things like headers, and intake manifolds (as a personally recommendation, do not get the kinetix mainifold!) provide minumal gains by themsleves, but will deffinetly help make more power.
The valve body upgrade and TC are just gonna help you put the power to the ground.
Cams will deffinetly help free up more horespower, but as you stated, that's the expensive route. You already have a UTEC so you are good to go there.
You need to work on that 5AT to help prevent damage as you increase HP. At a minimum get the VB and TC upgraded as well as adding a trans cooler. Get the largest and most efficient cooler you can find and fit. The 5AT under boost generates alot of heat and will kill the clutches quickly. Trans cooler is very important.

thanks, so besides more boost, to actually get these numbers is possible with breathing mods?
If the kinetix is so bad.... what is recommended. I hear so many people knock it, but i always thought with headers it showed real benefits in SC applications.
Looks like cams might end up being a smarter choice overall, figure it would be a mod that expensive but felt through the entire range and a solid hp increase.
Not looking to build this engine anytime soon if at all.

thanks, thinking i will handle the valve body, torque converter, headers, and maybe intake manifold. Perhaps the FD after if i am still able to get traction. Any suggestions if i were to upgrade manifolds? I am eyeing the kinetix and the APS tall boy, tall boy seems to be half the cost and i get so much mixed reviews of the kinetix......
most people have ignorant info on the kinetix because all the NA and turbo guys who didn't change cams or headers didn't gain much power or even lost power in the case of turbo setups.
The guys who did cams, ported heads, larger valves, and headers saw good power increases. I wouldn't bother with it if you're just going to do headers though. I think your heads need to be able to flow more air in and out before you see any real benefit with the SSV or cosworth
