Default Planning on going turbo, is the JWT 530 TT kit best for reliability?

I am driving a 06 350Z (5 speed auto, nismo exhaust & intake), and after debating weather to sell my Z for an M3 or C63, I decided that turboing my Z would be a much cheaper and much more unique way to get 400+ HP instead. So after some research I have come to find that the JWT 530 twin turbo kit might be the best turbo for a reliable conservative tune.

What I am after is to produce a little over 400HP (around the 420 or so range), but yet as my Z is my daily driver and only car I also will need it to be low maintenance and reliable. So basically I am just wondering what I would be best off with, and what kind of plan I should have.

if you are looking for reliablity.. then you are better off going with a car with an intact factory warranty and fast from the factory.. especially since you live in Kalifornia

in your research, you should also have seen that FI and reliability don't really belong together.

that being said, any of the kits out there are safe with the right tuning, and provided the install knows what they're doing.
if your Z is a DD, look into purchasing and building a spare short block, as things can always go wrong.

well I know that a turbo won't be as reliable as NA, however I thought that if a turbo is properly tuned with a low PSI, and with the right supporting mods, I should be able to not have to worry about engine damage, especially with smaller turbo's like the JWT 530 with a turbo timer.

A FI Z/G can be a daily driver but I don't think anyone would recommend FI if it is your only car. Not even if your builder/tuner was local to you... There are just too many opportunities for problems to arise given the number of modifications required for FI, regardless of the kit or the shop.

That said, I think the JWT kit is a good choice given their track record so far and the customer service provided.

IF there ever was such a thing, the JWT kit would be a good choice.

Click the link in my sig, there is a lot of good info about going F/I.

I already checked that out pretty thoroughly before posting this, so now I am pretty much just wondering if I can still keep some reliability with a turbo setup. As I said I just want to have a 400+HP Z and I am wondering what I would be best off with.

jwt 530 or vortech s/c with around 350rwhp would be relatively safe.

granted, if your tune is conservative, you have the right cooling mods, and you don't hammer the gas on a daily basis, you should be 'safe' on 400rwhp. but again, a FI Z/G isn't recommended as a DD....imo

This is what I will "reccommend" to you. If you want to go F/I and don't want to get into the motor (doing internals), do a JWT 530 kit, tune it to wastegate pressure, DO NOT BUY A BOST CONTROLLER, get some cooling mods, and a good set of gauges, and be happy with what ever power that setup makes (I would guess 360-400whp depending on the tune).

just know ... once you get into modding your car ... you'll find your self always "modding" you car. I know there is always somthing wrong with my car. Just tons and tons of little things that are almost irrelevant but there is always somthing i need to do to my car.

A big +1 to this statement.

I was going to question the whole thought on reliability, but then I saw you plan on running a turbo timer. Looks like you unlocked the reliability mystery.... just need a turbo timer
