can timing cause overheating??

Default can timing cause overheating??

hey,
if idle timing was set way to much could that cause overheating??

not likely..................i'm tellin ya............i don't do any performance stuff at my shop but i have seen hundreds of cars come through with the exact same problem you are having to a T..........its you rad. fans

overheating is caused by the the cooling mechanisms being unable to cool the resulting heat from what you are doing to the motor to get more hp. That is the simple answer. It is unlikely that retarding or increasing the timing alone could cause an overheating issue to that degree. Your motor would be running pretty oddly.

I'm guessing you need a cooling service.

The short answer, is that you are unlikely to change the operate temp of an engine at idle in a meaningul way...by adjusting timing at idle.
