I noticed a leak today and thought it was coolant due to its green color. Upon inspecting it I noticed that it smelled like motor oil. It seems to be coming from underneath the supercharger itself. I'm left feeling confused cause it looks like coolant but smells like oil. Can someone please shed some light on this. What really sucks is that I'm stuck at work till tomorrow morning , so I can't make any repairs on it till then.

I have no knowledge of the vortech sc... but can a seal be gone that would allow oil to enter the coolant or vice versa and another seal that's failing causing it to leak?

I have not noticed any smoke. I'm aprehensive about turning the car on now, with supercharger turning. What kind of characteristics should I look for in the exhaust smoke if it does smoke at all?

White smoke is a telltale sign of coolant leaking. Also can have a "sweet" smell to it.

Bluish smoke is a telltale sign of oil leaking.

There is no smoke coming from the exhaust. The only thing going on is a flourescent green oil dripping from underneath the supercharger. I use Mobil1 0W40 incase your're wondering. Is there a different type of oil with in the blower itself with the exception of the motor oil?

The only thing i can think of is have you had any leak tests done on ac or anything else.Cause in the auto repair industry we do use a bright green dye for checking leaks.

There are radiator hoses that run around or under the blower . Maybe one of thoughs is leaking .

It really smells like motor oil. I even opened my radiator cap to compare the scent of the 2, and they are completely different. I also forgot to mention that I can hear the sound of air escaping and the car has been sitting parked for hours.

FYI the oil in the AC compressor is neon green and the compressor is under the Vortech head unit. Does your AC still work fine?

I think it may be the a/c. When I look at the oil feed line I see that it runs along side the aluminum a/c line, and that is where the oil seems to be coming from. I even saw the neon green oil bubbling up in that spot. I hope this is not going to be expensive to fix.

this happened to me...but on my TT..was a hose that runs where the SC is..A/C line..it runs on the left side where the maf housing is...check that.

that a/c for sure, my old dodge was leaking, looked like Antifreeze, smelled like oil, just what you have

It's the aluminum hose that runs under the blower and into the brakefluid compartment. It has a black cap with the letter H on it. I guess that's a high pressure hose. I'm going to see if I can have an A/c shop reroute this hose to prevent this from happening again.

Here is the update. My oil feed line was lying up against the A/C line. The heat from the feed line began to melt the A/C line leaving the imprint of the braided line. This caused a very very tiny hole. So I rerouted the feed line away from the a/c line, and now I need to take it back to the A/C shop tomorrow for a spot weld. I had to take the air filter off so he can reach the spot (what a PIA this turned out to be). I hope this will be the last of it. Thank god it wasn't my blower. Thanks everyone for you input.

we all make mistakes, you found it early enough that it was a minor problem, easy and cheap to fix, good job
