Default Clutch line and hot pipe woes, with a happy ending

So I have been noticing lately my clutch fluid has been dropping every few days, and a few little spots on the ground where I park here and there. As part of my build I switched to a stainless line (Ebay special, remember this). I had no issues or leaks with it when I first installed it or a few weeks after, so I figured maybe the slave cyl bleeder valve had backed out a bit, or maybe I had forgot a crush washer on the banjo bolt...

Anyway I had the car up on jackstands today to do an oil change. When I pulled my ARC undertray I notice the whole underside is slick with DOT4. Upon close inspection of the clutch line, I find this:

Even with a stainless line, and with reusing the stock heat wrap sleeve, the pipe that goes from the driver's side exhaust manifold to the uppipe Y had completely decimated this clutch line. The only reason I wasn't seeing more fluid on the ground was because the heat wrap was absorbing most of it... It was absolutely soaked in the stuff and falling apart.

Luckily Forged is overnighting me one of their clutch lines which has the heat resistant coating on it like the CJM fuel lines, and I am going to double heat wrap it as well this time. Thank you Forged for helping me out, I called and ordered the line and had a tracking number within the hour! If you are wondering what the hurry is, I have an HPDE this weekend and if I missed it I would be out my registration fee.

Lesson learned here, keep your clutch line away from hot pipes, lol.

Ouch! Glad to see a happy ending. :-)

I'm only running headers and put header-wrap over the oem-wrap just to be safe.

^ If you had a TN kit there would be pipes all up in that area, lol.

I am going to be more careful how I route the line this time, and wrap it a ton. Also the better quality of the Forged line should help, it has that nice coating on it.

I used GSpec's Crown Clutch line which came with heat wrap and never had an issue after that. Glad you found the problem and got it fixed...
