Default FI and Oil temp

zup peeps. I have a ton of questions.

track day coming in couple of months and I've been keeping tabs on my oil temp. The weather was about 100+deg today and my oil temp was at 245 with the AC on, just cruising on the freeway. I would like to get an oil cooler install and considering a stillen. Arc and Nismo is out of my price range so any suggestion in brands welcome. Also, I have around 2500miles on a built engine and running 5-30 mobile one. when should I go synthetic? thinking 0-40 motul, but anything better out there? I would like to go a bit thicker for summer - 10-40 should be ok, right? (mornings don't get really cold- maybe 50 at the lowest) I have 5 qt of royal purple sitting in the garage, but I'm reading mixed reviews about it. any power steering cooler suggestions?
Price range for all this?

search around.

You can make your own setup for an oil cooler, same for power steering and get lower temps.

How much milage on your motor? If you have a built motor I'm surprised your not already on synthetic fluids already. I'd make the switch next oil change and keep and eye for leaks. prices will vary depending on where you shop

ehh.. synthetic on a freshly built motor isn't recommended. also, I don't really want a ghetto-fabulous home brewed setup at this time. thanks for trying . .. unless more people can chime in on the effectiveness.

Yea...I'm parting together a setrab cause I'm mounting the cooler on the drivers side due to the APS kit...and I don't think stillen's supplied hoses are long enough...anyway setrab sells all diff sizes.

Mine with Motul 10W40 used to hit 240 just cruising in 90 degree temps and over 260 pushing it. With the addition of a 15k BTU B&M cooler and 15W50, it's more uniform, around 210-230 all the time in this summer heat. So 220 doesn't sound too bad to me...

^ Normal.

220 is about where my oil temps are during city driving. Around 200 while cruising in 70 degree weather. This is with my oil cooler disconnected.

I have been told around 10-20 degrees higher then coolant temp is normal.

You can use synthetic oil on your built motor after about 2,500 miles. My oil temps are usually at 220 in this stupid hot Florida weather.
