Default HKS Rotex S/C broke, HELP!

The Idler Pulley Assembly for my HKS Rotex S/C broke.
It turns out the the center Cap Bolt broke in half & half of the bolt
is stuck inside.

Called HKS USA & was told that they discontinued the Rotrex Model & I need
to call Rotrex for it.
Told them that I found their Pulley Recal:
http://www.allworldauto.com/recalls/...all_57849.html
The answer:
The recall is for replacing the center bolt only. Still insist Idler Pulley Assembly is from Rotrex. (Even thought The Recall link states HKS will replace Idler Pulley Assembly)

A bunched of calls to Rotrex & Rotrex dealer later, was told by 2 Rotrex dealers that only the S/C head for the HKS S/C was from Rotrex.
HKS had to supply the SC bracket & the Idler Pulley Assembly (Which is attached to the bracket by 3 screws.

It appears Rotrex USA is not being honest with me.

1. Are there any HKS pro dealer here can order this part for me?
2. Maybe someone can help to get this from HKS Japan?
3. Could the New HKS GT use the same Idler Pulley Assembly?
Can some one post a picture of the HKS GT S/C Idler Pulley Assy?

On the part, there is bearing that says; Japan NTN 6304LU.

On the HKS S/C install Manual: Part# is : G13560-N53010-00

thanks a bunch

I had the pulley replaced under the recall and was sent to me by HKS for free. I have the original one lying around somewhere that has very little use. Happy to sell it to you for a nominal price. All you will need to do is find a longer bolt for the centre as I believe that was the only difference.

If the bolt broke and the bolt is covered by recall, why isn't HKS sending you a replacement bolt? If the pulley broke along with the bolt, then I think you could claim the two are related and HKS should replace that also.

Sounds like HKS is giving you the run around, not Rotrex.

Sounds like HKS is not backing their product anymore. Rotrex only supplied the supercharger. The mounting hardware, including the idler pulley, was designed and built by HKS to fit the SC on the engine. This should be covered by HKS, and doesn't seem like it has anything to do with Rotrex. I'm afraid you're caught in a bad situation if HKS won't take care of you. Is there anyone higher up in HKS' service dept for you to talk with?

Great, Mr RIZK, I'll take it. It's the Idler Pulley Assembly, right, the stuff inside the Pulley, not the actual Pulley.

I can get a longer bolt from Home Depot. Please PM me for price shipped to South Portland, Maine 04106
with your paypal account#.

Thanks a bunch!

I know, really disappointing experience from HKS USA. Can't believe
they tell me the recall is just the bolt & send me elsewhere for the Idler Pulley Assembly & made up a story like "HKS felt the Rotrex idler Pulley assembly is not strong enough & pro-actively decided on the recall".

I'll take the used part from above post first for now, as HKS hasn't returned my call after I called back told them that I found out the true story from Rotrex.

That suck that HKS don't backup their parts anymore. I was thinking about getting the cams for my Z, but now I guess I'm gonna get the Nismo one instead.

It's a discontinued item, undoubtably no longer under warranty (usually HKS provides 1 year warranty).

If the recalll is just for the bolt, then it looks like u r screwed.

Sorry op, G/L getting up and running again.

where are the HKS nuthuggers when you need them? I will never buy from HKS because i hear these storys time and time again. They run limited production of all there parts (including turbos) and are up sh*t creek without a paddle if any of yours break..

please do not get a longer bolt from home depot! they only carry grade 5 bolts and limited thread pitches. go to a hardware store and get either grade 8 us, or grade 10.9 metric. do not mix those up and get a grade 8 metric tho. if you go grade 5, expect the bolt to break again!

on a side note. an "easy out" will remove that bolt very easily. the head just popped off releasing all pressure on the threads.

Contact a supplier in Japan. IRS Motorsport speak very good english and are very prompt when communicated with by fax. I and people i know have spent alot of money with them over the years. They sorted me out with a key for my Jap import and also got full set of rays sent to uk a few years ago.

The recall was for the whole unit and the paperwork that comes with it is for the whole unit. Not sure why they are giving you the run around.

The idler pulley on my HKS GT sc just broke off of the bracket in normal driving--the bolts are completely off, as is the idler pulley and the belts. No power steering, nothing driving the battery. Don't know if the bolts were seized or what, but it's been less than a year since I bought it, and hardly have driven it.

I am running the GTM pulley and yes, the idler pulley snapped copletelyoff the bracket, the bolts snapped off, there seems to be some signs of burning where the bolts go. When I popped the hood the belts were off and the idler pulley was wedged in the radiator shroud

not sure, I only drove a few minutes with it like this to a shop with no power steering and with the batter draining. I am without another car at the moment, so I hope I can get up and running without too much delay.

Have you contacted GTM about it? If it's the complete pulley assembly that broke off and it's a GTM pulley then i don't think HKS will cover it.
What stage pulley was it?

p.s. It would be worth comparing the GTM pulley with the HKS one to see the differences.
