Default PCV has Hole In It

I was doing a pressure test on a PCV valve and found that the PCV valve has a small pinhole through the center that does not allow it to seal. Check it out for yourselves. Interesting!

I remember someone mentioning a one way check valve... anybody put one in?

For the less technically savvy amongst us, what exactly is a PCV valve?

Its a valve that helps get the gases out of the crankcase

I run a second check valve to prevent boost from getting into the crankcase. I use the following setup:

PCV --- catch can ---- T ---- check valve ---- intake manifold

The other end of the T ---- check valve ---- turbo intake

The check valves both allow air only away from the catch can.

The driver's side vent is open to free air with a breather and it has not gotten oily or dirty these past few weeks I've been running, so I'm assuming it is only sucking air in, as it should be.

rcdash, what is the purpose of using the T and running to both the intake manifold and pre turbo?

I think I will run a check valve in mine as well, just to be safe. And I am definitely going to just vent the driver's side, because I am sick of that huge 5/8ths hose getting crimped running all the way to the intake piping up front.

My pcv valve was cracked I never heard it with my procharger on except my idle would go up and down. When I installed a TN kit I heard it hissing. Replaced the valve and hose now my idle is perfect and no more hissing nose.

The idea is to have crankcase ventilation all the time. If you stay in boost for an extended period of time, vapors will be trapped in the crankcase and have to flow out the driver's side breather, spewing oil vapors into the engine bay. You therefore need to find a vacuum source that exists during boost. The only two that I can think of are in the pre-turbo intake piping (just after the air filter), or in the exhaust. Hence the T and the two check valves.

I had mine installed at Forged prior to pick up. Sharif probably has a source...

Interesting. I may set mine up similarly, because I will have that preturbo intake pipe nipple open when I switch the drivers side to a breather filter. That way I wont have to bother sealing it off.

IIRC APS makes some check valves for this purpose. But I could have them confused with someone else.

Contact an APS Dealer? I would think an authorized dealer would have access to spare parts!
