GREAT news to ALL vortech owners
okay guys here it is. Remember how everyone said not to do the 4.08 final drive gears????? Well I did it, and let me tell you its GREAT. Pulls ALOT harder and its sweet with the vortech so I would sudject everyone do it. Well just an update so let me know what ya think
I'ld really like to see some track numbers. Did you ever track your car before adding the gears to compare? I would be willing to bet that you shaved off close to a half a second.

I always figured for the 1/4 mile, it's better to trap near the upper rpms in a stronger gear with high boost than right after you shift into a weaker gear with lower boost
IMO it'll make a pretty sizable difference at the drag strip. I mean I really wouldn't be surprised at all if it knocks .3 or even .4 seconds of someone's time.
I run a 3.9 FD and as far as I know, was the first to use it (at least on the forums) in conjunction with the vortech over 2 years ago. I'll always recommend shorter gearing with the vortech as long as you have good enough tires to get traction

You will be shifting into 5th with the 4.08 in the 1/4. I have wondered about the 3.7 but it just seems like such a small step and replacing the gear is not cheap. I would love to know if a 4.08 even though another shirt is involved, if it lowers the ET and adds MPH in the 1/4
Just keep in mind you can select the wheel size for your drag radials appropriately to get you through the 1/4 mile without that last shift. You're not necessarily stuck because of the gears. The tire *is* the true final gear.
Would love to see a video also!
