isnt there a hole in the throttle body on most V8 fuel injected performance engines...? that small hole does wonders for boosted VQ idles... I seen it done.... but you cant do it on an NA car... dash will become a christmas tree!

Yeah like with LS1s. Some aftermarket tbs for those cars dont have the hole and idle like sh*t. After you drill one it solves the problem. Why do you say it wouldnt throw a light with FI?

Probably going to have to get someone to bump the idle a bit. you usually have to do that. dealer can do that. or anyone with the software

Dave bumped my idle up, sounded like a very common thing to do.

Tell me more about the blow off valve issue, who provided you with a new spring?

A friend of mine. And I dont care what anyone says about it being ok..thats not how it was designed to work. Its not supposed to flutter at all..either be open or closed with one solid release sound. Also at idle the valve should be fully open..not half way nor should it need an abrubt decel to "flutter" (the flutters your hearing is the excess boost trying to get out..its supposed to come easy) and when it flutters some air goes back out the turbo.

Im going to try the 9psi spring..and if it doesnt work fully(which it should drastically cut down at least..) then im going to step down to the 7psi spring which I know will work.

When the car is off, the BOV is closed, right? So when iding it is open and you should feel air coming out of the valve ?????

I think i almost understand this...the spring is set to push the bov open at the pressure the spring is loaded for...(ex:a 7 psi spring open the bov at 7 psi or greater)...so at idle the bov is closed? so if the spring is too light, it will bleed off charge air under hard loads since the spring is optimized for a certain pressure range? the 7 or 9 lb spring is good for low boost apps, but the 11 is good for high boost apps....am i correct here?

so if you run 9 psi of boost, that BOV with a 7 psi spring will open up some?

Just trying to grasp the concept fully here...

Yes when the car is off theres no vacuum to compress the spring and open the valve. And no like I said in the other post..if your running 20psi..you have 20 psi pushing up on the valve(trying to open it)...however your vacuum line that holds the valve open turns into a boost line when you go into boost. So if your pushing 20psi..you have 20psi of pressure(not vacuum) going through that line now pushing down on the valve...if there were no spring..the valve would leak because there would be 20psi trying to push it open and 20 trying to close it..but you have that extra 7lbs of pressure from the spring ALSO pushing down on the valve and THATS what keeps it closed.

Oh, dont take it the wrong way please..im not saying your wrong..im just saying the TIAL was desiged to open smoothly...not flutter at all. IMHO Tial 50mm is the best bov on the market and when its setup the RIGHT WAY is unbeatable. Its funny how sync. will say theres is faster..thats because they rigged the test. A tial with the wrong spring sucks and will be sluggish and not work...but thats why they make different springs..if you watch youtube..you can find how one works with the RIGHT spring.
