The Stillen SC should be 2,500 new. I personally wouldnt pay any more then that ever. Im actually looking for a used one for around that price. I want it for its reliablity and not for making insane power.
To pay over 6k for one new is nuts, I would build a shortblock and save for a used turbo setup with that kind of cash.. But hell people love to max out there credit cards!!

^ have you driven a stillen sc'ed g or z? its a beast for city driving. not everyone is a highway racer where vortech or turbos are more effective. with turbos you usually have to build and theres more maintenance (debatable?) a stillen sc'ed g or z would own a vortech stop light to stop light...and thats what some people look for when they go fi. i personally city drive 80% of the time, so the low to mid range punch the stillen gives is more than worth it. its not always about peak hp, it can be about the tq as well. ive driven vortechs before and i hate waiting to feel power past 4k...especially in the city. its basically unusable for city driving. but im not trying to put down any other form of fi...just some forms fit the needs for some people. with the stillen there is no need for tuning either. basically i think the stillen is for people that want to go fi, want extra power, but arent really into the whole tuner part of it. my 2 cents.
not my vortech Z
I've got more tq at 3000 rpms (290tq) than pretty much every stillen Z/G dyno I've ever seen except for one.
Even at 2500 rpms, I have about 275 tq which is right about even with most stillen dynos I've seen.
but I have shorter gears anyway so hardly any time is spent below 4000 rpms and the stronger gear tq makes up for any benefit the stillen has below 2500 rpms
Anyway, I actually agree with you as far as standard 'out of the box' installs go.
