Default Vortech. Decisions, decisions.

I have the v2 Vortech tuner kit w/RC 650cc injectors. I am at a loss as to what engine/fuel management setup to use. Originally, I was considering going with the UTEC. But a friend was telling me about the Unichip, or even reflashing the stock ECU. I would prefer some good plug 'n' play power ecu setup. Anyone have some constructive thoughts on this. The more I read, the more confused I become.

Dont do a flash unless you have the car at the shop that flashes the ECU and they do it on a Dyno .

That's what I figured. For all practical purposes, unless you are going with a total stock Vortech setup, you are going to need to hop on the dyno?

I have the V2 w/ 650's and haven't gone on the dyno yet. I tuned AFR on the street, running a very conservative timing map (the TN basemap). I know because of the timing i'm probably dumping raw fuel out closer to redline , but it still has been hauling some *** without hitting the dyno. At some point though, you really want to get it on there to tune for smooth power.

I would just suggest the UTEC. You will most likely have some hot-start issues with RC 650's, where you feather the throttle while cranking and shoot smoke when it starts up. And there are some odd bucking situations because the UTEC doesn't do the best job of compensating for the 650's, but overall it's pretty good and smooth power. Plus, if you go the UTEC route you can get a nice base map from someone like me to get you up and running just fine. Definitely don't go the flash route - will cost you more money in the end.

Now, if you want to go all out and have the car run like stock with no issues whatsoever, you can go with the Haltech or something - but that's obviously really pricey.

i would still recommend the technosquare " L" FLASH on top of running the utech, that is what i am currently running. with the L flash you will get
"100% throttle control" not ecu governed, rev limit upped to 7100, speed limiter delet and if you prefer they can trim the ecu for what ever size injector you are running so you will not have the hot start issues.

Unichip gets a beating in these threads but I think it maybe a cost effective solution. You can get a used one in good condition for like $350 or cheaper because everyone's selling theirs.
