hey guys Im gettting a Boost leak from my MAF sensor, it is actually coming out from the sides, I was wondering if anyone has ever made a gasket for it, or it there is something Im missing. I have both screws in it but it still leaks
There should be a small piece of rubber that sits between the sensor and the housing. W/ a decent used seal in there i have seem them start to leak a very minor amount by about 20psi (when pressure testing a system). Hope that helps.
how do you know thats were your leak is you can't be under the hood when your boosting did you find it while it was on a dyno?
Build a cap to pressurize the system...back in my DSM days we built em out of PVC endcaps, a valvestem, if you have to attack to something hard you'll need a rubber "grommet" (can't remember the proper word) that has a clamp on each end.
Then you pressurize the system up to a cpl PSI above your peak boost and listen...a little soapy water can come in handy here.
I know its where the leak is b/c when the car is at idle you can hear it and feel it coming out of there, Im loosing like 2psi from it its a major leak..
Cool, just making sure you know thats were it's coming from, because I have a boost leak and I'm having a hard time finding it.I think it's my Bov but not sure I was go to try a fogger to find it just haven't had the time. Has anyone used a fogger on here to find a leak?
sorry i can't help w/ the part number, or even if it can be purchased separately. I have heard that the 05-08 Mustang uses a very similar MAF sensor, maybe ford sells the gasket only, and could work?? I haven't tried to swap one or even looked at one in person, i just remember another tech commenting on it, so pursue that idea at your own risk!
Don't show a part number in the Service Manual - only the o-ring to the MAF itself. It's probably one of those things at the dealership where you need to buy the whole piece. Bastards...
