Default Vortech SC to SI trim (worth it)

Thinking of the upgrade but would appreciate any and all thoughts on benefits of the upgrade...Str8dum experience with it has been it runs hotter (AIT) than SC trim with no appreciable power benefit. What is the consensus of the benefits shelling out about $400.0 for the mod on the VQ engine?

IMO I wouldn't think about doing it until you think about doing cams, headers, and HF cats

I also wouldn't consider it at all if you're on the stock engine

that's just me though. You'll need larger injectors and obviously a retune

Have headers.

What are your concerns with the stock engine? Plenty cars making well over 400 with stock engine..A good tune is the solution..

Have a RFS and walbro, 440's and a retune of course

You have not provided any pro's..surely there must be some?

boost comes in alot quicker with higher over all boost numbers. but the down side with this blower is the higher IAT's. water injection would help bring the temps down. i would not recommend it unless you plan on having the appropriate supporting mod's. the only thing i would have to add next is cam's and head work to get it to perform as it should correctly, i am upgrading in the near future to the V1 T-trim . after that when i pop the engine i am building a 10.5:1 compression built stroker short block with worked heads, cam's, 3" system piping, larger fmic and reinstalling the T-trim. i will be shooting for a 550 RWHP s/c setup.

I'ld really like to see this build take place. I'm sure you can break 550whp with a 4.2 stroker and a T-trim. Modified Mag featured a 4.1 stroker with a stillen stage 4 kit that broke 500whp.

I don't think it's possible until someone can figure a safe way to stop the slippage. A T trim with the right pulley setup can push around +20psi but the real question is can u actually see 20psi all the way to redline or will the boost keep falling off at WOT?

with a larger engine via stroker kit, boost psi will go down so you'll never even get to 20 psi. It'll probably be more like 16 psi with a 4.2 liter engine at 6600 rpms. I think with the right belt mods, you can probably hold 16 psi.

But you're right about 20 psi probably not working out and slipping too much if it was the stock 3.5 displacement
