I am hoping someone can shed some light on my issue. My car has Greddy TT and many other bolt ons. The car was running great at 370rwhp, daily driver. I decided to add reurn fuel system, since then, the car lets off huge amounts of smoke when you let off the gas. No smoke when your foot is into it, only when you let go of the gas. Doesnt smell like oil, and its white. My mechanic convinced me that buying a Haltech ECU would solve all my problems, so I did. He has installed it, but we are still have the same problem.... anyone have any ideas, I am hoping it is something minor, before I have to change out the stock internals, was hoping to wait till next spring to take on that project.

I think its a issue with most Greddy TT owners. My car lets out a good random puff of smoke also. Seems the Greddy seals are leaking and can be somewhat fixed by running a thicker oil weight.

 

I had a similar problem when I ran 5w-30 in my z with the turbonetics kit. mine would smoke when I ran up high into the rpm range and then smoke on decel. did you change your oil/oil weight when you installed the return system?

 

yeah when i drive behind people with TN's i notice the white puff.

dangerous? i think not.

because Haltech and Fcon is be-all, end-all solution to all problems. you don't even need an annual checkup from your doctor, when you have a standalone

 

WOW...expensive...and then to find out it did not fix the problem

 

Its a common issue with most turbo setups. There are a bunch of things that can cause it:

Too thin oil being used
PCV system plumbed wrong, or PCV valve spent
Turbo seals leaking
Turbo drain lines kinked/plugged/too small
Excessive piston ring wear

You just have to work your way thru the suspects until you find which one(s) are causing the issue. Unless its due to internal engine wear, its probably an easy fix. Finding it is the hard part!

this is not a greddy thing ive run the kit for a while on my built motor and never have one ounce of smoke ever

 

Well it will tell you if you are getting blowby due to poor ring sealing.

Nope it certainly not a greddy-specific thing. I've seen threads of this nature from people running pretty much every turbo kit out there.
