Many of us within this forum have the same adrenaline/stupidity/thoughts running through us. I have been telling my friends for years now "FI on a non FI car never again, Iwant to do a beast NA build"

My father has an M6 I like to drive, but is slow as all hell. I dont even find it fun to spin a 10cyl to 8250rpms when it climbs so slow

Ive contemplated used Vipers and C6 Z06's 500-600whp NA I feel would satisfy my need and be "reliable"

It what happens after that may go away, that worries me as the build wont cost $25K they will cost half the price of my house

Yes I have, like I said earlier I feel like a simple block would be more reliable, and overall cheap to do.

But while its getting done I feel like I would be stupid to at least not rebuild my turbos, ugrade them or switch to another kit.

I know its retarded after all the problems the thought of more power and issues sounds insane, but I always feel like when you break it, you should make it better. My first build made 580whp at hight boost, this one 605whp at low boost. Problem now is justifying that, and the upgrades.

I feel your pain, this is why i keep my Z as a DD. If you want something cheap/fast I highly recomend an 03-04 cobra, but then again dont expect any looks or compliments from girls unless you get a C6-Z06

Sorry to hear Alberto that this is going on again and the problems you have had with certain shops.

I too feel that everyone opens their wallets and not get what they expect and if something goes wrong it's their fault.

I'm doing my own build with help from some knowledgeable people so if something breaks I got only myself to blame and I will be able to break it down and diagnose it myself also.

LOL @ that last comment I could care less what some dumb ***** or other people think of my car. When it works its rewarding, I just cant enjoy it when it breaks every year.

I have also contemplated buying a solid simple block, and then doing the work myself.

Problem is I have 1/2" head studs, so I need a set of heads. Hmmm I left a set at Forged wayyy back when I never picked up, FML again.

Sorry to hear this. I hate it that one of the baddest Z's I have ever seen is so close to me but under such bad circumstances. This thread make me wander if staying stock block at 8psi is the best thing for me

I can see rebuilding and/or upgrading the turbos, but i cant justify a new kit. Correct me if im wrong but your Greddy kit hasn't been your issue, not to mention your putting more HP/ driving faster than newer kits anyways just fine with the Greddys..! I know My Greddy kit has been awsome for me. after 3 years of track/street/road courses my passenger side is just now showing signs of needing a rebuild, im sure if i cooled them down more between drives (turbo timer) it wouldnt. So thats money there saved on not doing a new kit. If i did buy a new kit the ones i like run north of $7500 and that means more down time (i only spend OT money on mods) and higher cost of my build .

It is true on all levels that cars are moneypits! Does anyone here have a reliably built VQ motor with twin turbo setup running daily? I'm thinking....NOOOOO...

Dam, I feel your frustration bro! It's no fun when you are told one thing and its not like these motors come with any warranty. The worst part of it all is that they expect you to drive a 600WHP car like a station wagon. Who does that?!

Many can claim daily reliability with FI but I'l be the first to say they drive like my mother.

Everybody claims they drive hard, not many prove it.

Many claim they run XXXwhp in reality I know of many who dont actually run at those levels/have shops that tell them to turn things down for daily use.

Its all part of the BS/propoganda that this site and community will one day be known for to others....the commnity is too tiight knit to evolve.

Shops telling customers to keep hush about bad experiences, issues, problems. Everytime somebody does that another person goes through the same thing without learning about it first. Many shops do it, all the customers of these shops - many in this thread know abou tit first hand, of course who wants to "burn bridges" and call everyone out or share evverything?

I say call them out. I don't think of it as burning bridges, but as sharing information. Helps the community out if anything.

Mine is not a DD. Mainly cause I don't need a DD (live in downtown chicago and work in downtown chicago).
That being said, if mine was a DD I never would have done the work to it.

Mine definately has daily driver potential but I'm sure I'd find some sort of issues that arrise at some point.

I currently have a little over 9K miles on my setup, and asside from my now defunct clutch, I haven't had any issues. (KNOCK ON WOOD).

Mine is truly a toy, when it is driven, it is driven hard. Most of the time is on pump gas (14-17psi so 530-590rwhp), but much time was also spent at 30psi (650-769rwhp depending on tune)......

But I agree with Alberto, many people are told myths about what the cars can/have done vs what is the case....I know of a few people by multiple shops (not just the famous one) that were told their car made 750rwhp+ on a single walbro, with turbos that won't flow to 550rwhp....but no dyno sheet could be supplied, or verification of any sort....

Dude f*ck that ***** of a car. I'd say enough is enough. I can understand a house as being a money pit because at least you'll recoupe most of your costs if you ever sell. But this money pit of a car is just too much.

really sorry to hear this Bert, I dont think you should part out just yet, I think you should just take a break and see how you feel about the car after some time has passed.

you already have so much put into this car I can see why you wouldnt want to let it go just yet. At the same time it has caused you many headaches... if you do decide to let it go I think something like a lightly modded c6z06 would keep you satisfied..

either way best of luck with whatever you choose

ANYTHING can break. 3 of my close friends have big singled supras, I know the cars pretty well. They are built for boost and are well known to handle it well.
