Hey guys,

First, I should state my goals are for maximum "safe" power levels on a stock block. From what I can determine, that means 400whp, 420 if I feel lucky (I don't, lol). So, please correct me if I'm wrong in this first assumption.

Anyway, I'm having a hard time finding what kind of numbers a stillen stage 4 blower puts out. The stages 2 and 3 certainly don't seem to be worth the money compared to other options out there.

So, any idea what kind of numbers a stage 4 kit should put down, and does anyone happen to have a dyno graph of one? I'm curious about the top-end power with this kit, as well.

(Disclaimer: I haven't truly decided on this route yet, still checking my options!)

 

How much power does the Stillen Stage 4 produce? Not enough...

I've usually seen them around the ~335 whp range.

Dont waist your money on the stillen kit as i had it for 4 years.I went from stage 1 to stage 2,3 and 4 and now i have the greddy twins so that should tell you.Originally i installed the stage1 kit back in august 2003 and proceeded from there but the power the kit makes is nothing compared to the twins i have had since mid 2007.

 

If you think stages 2 & 3 aren't worth the money compared to other options, you should form the same conclusion regarding stage 4 as well.

I couldn't find pricing or specs on the stage 4 stuff at all. If it wasn't much more, AND could make close to 400whp, then it would be worth it, don't you think?

Power levels are not the deciding safety factor, it is largely in the tune.

 

Good point. I was speaking in simple terms. I'm well aware that people are gonna blow 350hp engines as well as running well tuned 450hp engines for years. However, without forged internals, I would certainly feel nervous about going for 500hp regardless of the tune - meaning, there are certainly mechanical limitations in place.

 

you should do more research.. Stillen SC under 330 whp levels have blown more motors than Vortech's over 350 whp levels

 

Have you factored needed a new (very ugly) hood in the budget, if you go stillen?

 

Yeah... and talk about ugly, they really couldn't come up with something better?

As for hitting that HP goal, its seeming more and more like nitrous is the best choice for me. Cheap, easy to install, and can be safe if you're smart about it. What attracted me to the stillen kit is that I've only ever owned NA or turbocharged vehicles, thought if I could get good power out of it, a roots style blower could be fun. But, looks like thats not gonna happen, sadly.

there's a reason why the overwhelming amount of supercharged applications on the forum are Vortech.

 

The tuning of the stillen is locked so there is no tune.

Op, you need to let the Vortech kick in, yo. Stillen don't make squat for power and its days are done for. There a lot better options out there.

Just curious, if Stillens SC is producing less hp/tq than Vortech's and probably very conservative tune also why would more engines be blowing than Vortechs? Seems with a conservative tune and less power the Stillen would be safer albeit with less power????

 

who blew an engine on a vortech with the 8lb stock pulleys? I've never heard of such a thing.

 

I was asking why more Stillen's are blowing engines at 320-320rwhp than Vortechs with 350+rwhp...
