His problem was with the tubes themselves, not the seals - so new valve covers would not fix. Ultimately I believe he was able to remove the tubes by fitting a socket inside the tube (to keep it from crushing in) and using vice grip or similar to squeeze the outside and twist them out.
Thanks Hal. hopefully mine can do the same. I didn't understand why they sold the tubes separately if you cannot swap them out without getting a new valve cover.

I believe you are confusing tubes with seals.. the seals are built into the valve cover and can not be replaced. This is the most common problem with oil leaking. The tubes will only be a problem if the heads were dropped/dented/etc.
