Default Kinetix SSV with a TN Kit

I have been talking to the guy who is going to Tune my car and I found that he says that the Kinetix SSV manifold is poorly designed and will actually make my front two cylinders run lean causing damage is tuned for power. Is this true? Has anyone here used a SSV with their TN or other Turbo Application. I just don't see how this can be!

I've heard the same thing but I also know that one of the shops managed to make about 430+ Hp with the SSV and TN kit.
I wish someone would really chime in with an answer on this.

the SSV gains power if you have either headers, cams, larger valves, or porting

otherwise with stock heads and stock exhaust manifolds or shorter manifolds like some of the TT kits, then it'll lose power

I see what your saying here, interesting enough, some people have it and love it and others say you can damage your engine. I guess we really need to get the .02 of the people who have them, who damaged their car or are running perfect with them.

I think it is way overpriced, but not as much as the cosworth

It's still a worthy piece though as long as you get some sort of headwork or headers.

It also saves 10lbs, easy to take on and off, and takes up less space

There was a design flaw in it. I bought it when they first released it, had it for about 3 months, went for some boost and the welds cracked at 12 psi. It also made less power than the stock manifold on my car. it's not worth the money IMO. The cosworth however seems to be making big power if you bump up the rev limiter.

yeah that's true about the welds on the SSV.

Plenums that are designed specifically for extreme high rpm power, don't make power and usually lose power at mid-low rpms.

SSR's "coffin" plenum is that way. It loses power all over the place, but at like 7000 rpms and higher, it'll make power.
The prototype plenum that Charles from CJM was working on is also the same way he said

Interesting, my plan is to go back to MREV2, 5/16th Spacer and either Polished Stock upper or a Kinetix V+ upper.

Since I am a 05 non revup, will the MREV2 give me power or should I stick with the stock lower collector and the 5/16ths spacer?

Anyone have any problems with a V+ plenum on a turbo setup? I see alot of engine bays with them installed.

thats a lie , only a bad tune can damage ur engine.

if u like it, and like how it looks, keep it and dont worry about ur engine.

i tune a car here in kuwait with a Turbonetics ST.

that time he had the plenum on his car, he just lose some power in the same boost runing befor.

i allso noticed that when i was tring to controle the injectors in the injector map, it was hard for me to make a smooth AFR line on the dyno Graph.

but the guy still wana keep it ,and his happy with it.

The MREV2 is for the revup and does not benefit the non-revup. The purpose of the MREV2 is too fatten up the low to midrange powerband that was lost on the revup motor versus the non-revup. If your motor is non-revup, you are better off using a spacer alone.

There were a bunch of problems in the past with them cracking, but they are on the 4th or 5th version or some such craziness now, and I dont hear about any problems anymore. That may be because not many people boosted run them anymore.

I've had mine on for over 2 years now, and about 2500 miles with FI. It sees 8psi normally and has seen as much as 12psi without issues. I plan on keeping it on when I turn up my boost to about 15psi next month, and hopefully it is fine. For what I paid for it (next to nothing), I dont really care if it breaks because I will just replace it. If I was already FI, I probably would not buy one because its just not worth the potential risk. Better to go with a plenum spacer, or an APS or Crawford plenum.

Jay'z also has one on his procharger setup, so maybe he will chime in.

Gee, thanks for yet another less than helpful and inaccurate post containing an unprevoked insult.

How many times do you need to be banned before you stop posting like this?
