Default PowerLabs oil recommendations

For all you PL users in different temperatures....

What brand/viscosity do you run for your PL GT35R kits? What temp range do you run in?

I am using Motul 8100 X cess 5w40. I don't want to buy the 300V. I have never seen smoke out the back, so i seem to be doing ok. I have yet to check the oil level since I got the car back in 2800 miles (is it even possible to accurately check the oil????). I plan to measure out the oil that drains out to see how much burned then see how much is in the Greddy catch can.

I was planning on using Redline 5w40, Rotella 5w40 or Amsoil Euro oil 5w40

Should i be doing any other checks during the oil change? I am going to check the coolant level. This will be my first time doing it with the turbo installed!

Check the coolant(I check mine daily) also when your under there check all around the oil pan spacer for leaks as well as the oil pressure sensor where you tapped in for the oil feed to the turbo. Then check the water line fittings on the turbo and make sure theres no leaks. Check to see if any of the pipes are melting any wires and just general things like that.

I already had a leak at the spacer from poor installation, it has been cleaned up since. Checked the coolant today, everything seems as it should be....all levels looked good. I will check out everything when I am under there, the wires by the turbo are heatwrapped, so I doubt i need to look under there. You got any scraps of heat wrap you can mail me to put around my rad hose?

The oil looks near impossible to check with the intake pipe so close to the dipstick....still havn't done that. In fact, I have NEVER checked the oil in the car. Pull the plug, fill with 5 quarts, go home till next time.

...so on the topic.. i think there is quite a few threads on what oil to use FI... personally i never had any issues with mobil1 10w30 running in az for over 2 years..thats 2 summers of 100+F
About the checks besides whats mentioned always check the heatwrap is not coming loose anywhere and its not a bad idea at all to always have some handy, not very expensive at all
