thorough inspection for a large ticket item is a no brainer, but in the end a used car is a used car.fatigue is real and part of why you are about to get an awesome deal.
Best quote in the thread... Especially for a car that has seen track time.

I am not one to buy a used car...especially use FI car. BUT there are are a few cars on here that were built by some top notch shops that I would consider. If the car has a history that can be checked ie: you can call the builder and get the info....sure I would at a good price. But like "go-fast" stated..."but in the end a used car is a used car"...

What I meant by this is that I would get all the parts, oversee the work, etc. i.e. build up the car. Couldn't build a turbo kit or engine on my own...

I'm on both sides of this issue. I bought my Z with a TN single and a stock block with low miles. The seller was an automotive tech and kept great records and the car has held up great. However, the lust for power has taken hold and I'm putting in a fully built motor and APS twins. If I had it to do over again, I would have bought a similar Z with the motor and twins already included. Doing the build right gets expensive really fast.

+ eleventy billion

Best case scenario, you find someone who just built the car and can't pay for the mods. Then you know exactly why it was being sold.

I would buy my car if it were for sale, it is awesome, but either way, we can all agree buying a highly modified car is more of gamble.

AS is modifying a car on your own in the first place..... I've done both, but I like to work on cars so much i'm biased.
