Could be helpful, but it might be a little excessive if you plan on upping the boost. I am running the 2.87 pulley and traction isnt that great.

I have this set up also and find that the gears give me a good dig down low until the SC really starts to kick in. Traction can be an issue at times but wider sticker tires should help.

I'm a stick shift though.

I believe a 3.9 in a AT5 tranny will be more like running a 4.1 or something close . A 3.7 will be equal to a 3.9 in a AT5 tranny .

Something that they havent mentioned...on a MT6 tranny and a 3.9 rear...they basicly dont use 1st gear any more and Im sure second is very short too.

yeah I'm not auto, I'm 6 speed
sorry about that

3.9 in an auto will be pretty extreme
might work out just fine if you're not going for much power though or get some serious tires

i cant really imagine shorter than 3.5 gears. 1st and 2nd seem really short as it is.

there's guys that have gone 3.9 with 5AT - just maybe not with a vortech.

If you're shooting for power that low, then you can probably get away with a 3.9

I had the 3.5 with my AT5 and it just was to much for me . 1st and 2nd spun all the time . I went back to a 3.3 . With a stock Vortech kit it may have been alright

You're not the first with the 3.917 on the 5AT.

Dude, I'm thinking about to swap to a 3.917 rear myself, but hesitating about the overall drivabilty. How far from NY are you? If you show me yours, I'll show you mine (a bad-*** G37 paddle-shift retrofit in a 03 Z done by turbocad6)
