Regarding this "screeching noise" we, here at Intense, have never had a build that resulted in this mysterious noise. Not taking away from the couple of people who had their kits installed elsewhere and experienced this. However, since this thread was created, we haven't seen another similar thread, nor received any type of communication (phone, pm, email, etc) from anyone else describing these symptoms. In the end, it's strange, to say the least -- and has proven to be temporary, isolated to only 2-3 kits (I believe that 2 of them were installed by companies that actually went under too) and hasn't been harmful to the health of the motor.

Our hours: M-F 9-1230; 130-6 PST

Hope this helps. Thanks!

Darren

Hurry up and **** up an install so you can see what it is!

But seriously...i'd kinda be surprised to know it was an install issue, my original guess and even Tial though the noise was from improper line? routing (install related) to the wastegate, seemed to come more from the header area than the WG when i was under it, hard to isolate the noise when it is just on ramps

Im kinda insulted by the remark there Darren. The noise is actually heard on one Powerlab kit that was self installed here in Maryland and two self installed kits down in Florida that came to my shop.

Plus the 5 or 6 kits i installed at my shop did it. Its not a serious issue, it just makes a slight "rattle" if you must when you sit still and rev the car up to 4500 rpms or so. Like i said, we heard the same noise on an APS single turbo here the other day.

Its one of those noises that you have to have pointed out to you. Also , the more free flowing the exhaust , the more you will hear it.

I am 100% positive we installed a bunch of kits correctly so lets not bring that up again please.

Jeremy,

I didn't mean to imply that it was because of a faulty install by the two shops (now closed) that caused the screeching. If that's how you took it (and I didn't even mention your name) then my apologies. As I stated in my last reply, however, we have still yet to hear what some are referring to as "screeching" and we have now done over 20 kit installs here.

It's no big deal Jeremy, unless you want to make it so. Good to hear from you though -- it's been a while. Peace.

Darren

Default Noise

I have an 06 g35 with the gt35r powerlab kit and have experienced the strange noise on decel from ~4000-3000 rpms. I have had the complete kit off the car twice and readjusted the piping several ways and could not silence the noise. I did header wrap the entire exhaust from the manifolds to the end of the downpipe to decrease the under hood temp and this mod did significantly decreased the noise. I have to really focus to hear it now.

James, can you post a video clip or sound byte so we can hear how the heat wrap helped silence to the noise on your kit?

is there a flex pipe section in the crossover pipe like the aps single? Bc my friend had some problems with the aps single cross over pipe leaking at the crossover flex joint and it made the same noise you are describing.

^^^ when I put my new crossover pipe on this week I am going to heat wrap over top of the flex joints and see if that is where it was coming from. The pipe on the car now has heat wrap, just not on the flex joints. Ill let you guys know if the sound goes away.

That seems like it would be easier to do this vs trying to wrap the pipes while they're on the car

Ok well I got tired of waiting for intense to send me a new pipe, so I welded mine back up. Heat wraped and now the noise is only there if you really listen for it!!!! Not loud at all.
