Good luck hopefully it isn't something bad. I'm sure he will take care of it and you'll be back in business in no time.

Snyper I have the wrong BOV spring that was shiped with my BOV but have yet to have any problems with it. It just sounds like when I shift around 3k like my car is going "Teee leee leee Pssh* lol Still have yet to hear from anyone at Intense about getting the right BOV spring.

haha well it should only go psssh. The "rattle snake" noise is the air trying to force its way past the spring pressure putting unneeded pressure on the wheel.

Dave wasn't able to get to my car before he left. I'll update with what happens next when I get a response. He will return Sunday but I don't think he'll dive straight into fixing his cars that day.

I just got an update from Dave yesterday.

He tried pulling and swapping the plugs/injectors/coils and they seemed fine to him so next he went to the ECU.

Basically, he found out that the UTEC went bad somehow which was preventing my car from firing the #5 cylinder.

I have to fax him my invoice today as proof that I bought the kit so I can get a the UTEC warrantied. Now to go print out that invoice....

A setback, yes, but it could have been much worse. Hopefully an easy an inexpensive fix.

OMg I had this same problem with my Utec!!! We were able to get the car tuned and as soon as we went for a test drive BAM damn Utec died out on us for some reason. It was doing the same thing with the Cylinder Misfire of number 5. He was able to get me anouther UTec but had to send the other one out to get fixed. Wonder if there is a bad batch of them floating around?

Yeah z2.. but are cylinder misfires and a cylinder not firing at all the same problem?

I'm no mechanic so my knowledge of all the vocabulary is limited.

I'm glad that the problem is only a minor one though. Dave said the car ran perfect after he swapped in another UTEC.

Also, I was able to drive the car almost exactly 100 miles until the car started to act up but you had issues right off the dyno.

Marty: thats annoying, sorry to hear about the issue.... i wonder if this is a grounding issue. I remember i had one of the original batches of utec where i had to do a lil mod for it, but that was supposed to be a solved issue by now.....then again its always possible that this is a bad batch, at least its a "easy" fix and not something worst...

regardless props to dskank for putting the effort in DIY install it ain't easy specially if its the 1st time ever you install a turbo kit. Same goes to keith...the kit is a tight fit, but still a DIY job... it takes a bit of patience most of all..that is the main thing jeffie had on his install. The knowledge you guys gained on your car by doing the install has a lot of value in all this as well.
Having talked to Han i know powerlab is working on revised instructions....

Hey I'm not a skank!

Yeah I did learn a ton of stuff about car's. Especially how easy it is to take apart these ones! I also learned another valuable lesson. If your turbo kit doesn't fit almost perfectly out of the box and you don't have the tools or knowledge to extend/cut/weld pipes you are fubar.. and you will be calling a tow truck to get it fixed by a pro.

sorry for the typo bud
yeah you had some bad luck ac being different in the very early 03 models. Going foward you should be able to troubleshoot and install future mods yourself on the car now
THe more potential you expect out of turbo kit the harder the installation it is...the big piping, which can make the install annoying, is also a big point in the potential of the Powerlab kit... i mean if peeps wanted an easier to install turbo kit, then go with the TN kit and accept also all the well known performance limitations that tn kit comes with, and also its not quite nearly complete as the PL kit out the box.
Big thing is the install instructions, which as i said, i know are being revised now.

^^^ i think you nailed it on the head.. The PL kit is a great kit but with the kit being so new and not many people DIY'ing it, it is a tought install. The directions did lack allot of info but they are trying to revise them so hopefully down the road this install will be a bit easier. Another thing with the pl kit is that the pipes are all so big that it is a tight fit and everything has to go in PERFECT for it to run. My car will be at my tunner at 2:00 today and hopefully we can get all of the kinks worked out.

When my Utec went out it wasn't even misfireing. It didn't even fire at all on the 5th bank. Weird part about it though was that when we tuned it it was running 100% as soon as we went to take it out for a spin around the block Jeremy noticed something wasn't right and we went straight back to the garage and checked everything and it was not firing at all. Swapped out the Utec with one he had there at the shop and loaded my tune onto it and BAM no issues at all. Utec is at Turbo XS getting reviewed to see what happend and waiting for them to send me one back.

hmmm thats weird. my powerlab z has been feeling a bit down on power lately. and it has been smelling quite rich as well (although it smelt like that since day 1). I wonder if my utec has gone out?? i have my check engine light on but it has been since i got the kit put in (engine misfire code, common in FI'ed Z apparently). can anyone deny or confirm this??

not trying to jack thread btw, sorry
