good call. most morons don't know that you are supposed to soak the wrap before wrapping it. I have seen several wraps that were done dry. I swear......some people just don't understand why there are instructions!!!!

that was a first time for me! I cant believe some ppl lack of attn. its ridiculous its not like the instructions are even complicated its ONE step.

My prediction; boost + instant overheating = combustion gases in coolant jackets. Head lift of whatever you want to call it.
yeah that was one of the things Rob thought it was. but I was purposely puttin it under heavy load to make something break. I was really trying to make it happen. I really hope its not the case though...

its got 1/2 inch head studs.. i guess if the builder didnt deck the heads and put the metal headgasket on **** (uneven) surfaces there could be my problem...

the previous owner was goleboy he doesnt have too much activity on this forum though also he lives in phoenix.

I was thinking the exact same thing...

Unless the used FI car was built and tuned at a well known and reputable VQ35 shop, I wouldnt even consider touching it.

I didn't know that Vivid Racing worked on customer cars? I though they just did parts, and did some SEMA projects.

Locally they do a lot of Subarus and EVOs, and the owner is trying to get into the Porsche market, but for every positive customer out of there shop there are 5 negative....

Yeah, it's really weird. Vivid has a professional looking website and a very nice facility. But their techs must be F*CKING RETARDED or something. They just don't know how to install stuff right.

In the for sale thread for this car, the selling (goleboy) was referred to as Kyle. I don't know which Kyle. Anyone know?

OP- What color, year, etc?

Just something for you to try, I had problems getting air out of my coolant system also. Jack up the front of the car when you bleed the system. The fill for the radiator is kinda low and you need it to be the highest point in the system when you are trying to add coolant/bleed the system. I spent like an hour the first time I removed the radiator bleeding the system. I would drive it with the heat on full blast, it would go cold. Then I would pull up to my house real quick, jack up the front end and bleed it. Hope this helps some.

it's amazing how many pretenders are in the industry, they talk a good game and fool the less informed for years before being exposed.i guess it's like this everywhere but the performance market seems to be chock full.
it takes a lifetime to be qualified, but some think if they hang a sign and buy a dyno, they are a real speed shop.they build a couple of cars and suddenly are experts.i've been in the trenches since the 80's and it takes quite a bit of energy to stay current let alone absorb the technical skill's that make you well rounded.

Here is the sale thread for anyone that wants to look at it:

https://my350z.com/forum/cars-sale/3...bos-works.html

Hmmm....seller has 0 i-trader and 70 posts, sounds similar to my recipe for fail. I will say this, if you read the posts on page 4 of the thread from AZ350Z, I would have to think this is a car in great mechanical condition. I would think if the car is overheating that after 4 or 5 hard dyno pulls you would see the coolant overflow filling up or the car puking coolant all over the place. I know how it is to get burned, so I feel your pain.

From the seller:
Deal in the works, Car inspected by TOY BOX AUTO in tempe AZ, owner is the az350z.com moderator. Will be posting results of compression/leakdown test aswell as results from 85 point inspection of the car...
From the guy at Toy Box Auto:
I looked over the car and we performed a leakdown and compression check on the motor.

Passed with flying colors.

Very, very good deal at this price.
How bad is it when a supposed reputible shop inspects a car, gives it a glowing review in the sellers thread and it still comes out bad?

To all the noobs (and idiots like me): Do NOT ever buy a F/I car or motor from another forum member unless there is significant documentation on the build and it is from a well known member of the MY350Z.com community.

It seems more and more people are willing to half-a$$ install a kit, drive the car till it shows issues and then pawn it off on forum members looking for deals. As the old saying goes, "if it seems too good to be true, it probably is" - $18,500 for an 04 with F/I and 54K is pretty low IMHO.

Before I met the guys at Intense, I had Vivid install my sway bars. Within a week or two, I had this god awful clunking going on under the car. When I took it to my Infiniti dealership, they found out that my sways were not torqued to spec and were way loose. The dealership tightened them up, and I have had no problems since. If Vivid can't even install a set of sway bars properly on a G, I shudder to think what they do with a turbo kit.
LMAO @ your sig!

To the OP-I agree with what everybody else said, go get a spill funnel and bleed the air out of the system, when you think your done keep doing it. 30 minutes did the job for me.

Then go out do a 3rd gear pull. Watch the boost guage, if you get full boost then it drops you have head lift, and are likely losing some coolant and overheating-that's what happened to me. Although I suspect if that was happening your windshield would tell the tale. Good luck with it all. I didnt know so many people disliked Todd's motors, I know of a few that have had no issues with them.

I totally agree....If I ever decided ( no time soon ) to sell my car, I would even pay for the inspection.....and offer some kind of warrantee with the car...what happened to you Cass was crap

With the way the Z/G community is, for big FI builds, chances are the person is on here or someone on here knows them personally. Best bet, if the seller cannot offer you any information on other people to ask about the seller, or the car/motor don't do it.

Plus I think any of us if we were selling would direct the buyer to our builder/tuner with specific questions. It is your best bet to go straight to the builder/tuner and get specifics.

But always get documentation and an inspection.

Maybe I missed it, but: 1. How many miles on the monZter?
2. Have you checked the thermostat's condition (grime and other
stuff may have fouled it up).
3. Undiluted coolant/anti-freeze--i.e. thick, fully concentrated.
Good luck!
