Hmmm....seller has 0 i-trader and 70 posts, sounds similar to my recipe for fail. I will say this, if you read the posts on page 4 of the thread from AZ350Z, I would have to think this is a car in great mechanical condition. I would think if the car is overheating that after 4 or 5 hard dyno pulls you would see the coolant overflow filling up or the car puking coolant all over the place. I know how it is to get burned, so I feel your pain.

From the seller:

From the guy at Toy Box Auto:

How bad is it when a supposed reputible shop inspects a car, gives it a glowing review in the sellers thread and it still comes out bad?

To all the noobs (and idiots like me): Do NOT ever buy a F/I car or motor from another forum member unless there is significant documentation on the build and it is from a well known member of the MY350Z.com community.

It seems more and more people are willing to half-a$$ install a kit, drive the car till it shows issues and then pawn it off on forum members looking for deals. As the old saying goes, "if it seems too good to be true, it probably is" - $18,500 for an 04 with F/I and 54K is pretty low IMHO.
I don't know about the rest of the locals, but I wouldn't trust Toy Box Auto as far as I can throw them!! Vivid, BZM, Toy Box Auto..... this smells of Mega Fail!!

Sorry OP!!

I thought I read the guy from Toy Box Auto was the president of the AZ Z/G forum, I guess I gave him credit for being a member in good standing with the Z community.

I saw that the other day too. Seems a certain Doc is trying not to get jacked up by stock block power this year at the airstrip.

I know who Rich is, and he is the president of the local Z/G forum, but I still wouldn't trust him with my car. When he was at SRD, that place was like a frat party, not a performance shop.

The ONLY shops in AZ that I trust are:

Intense & UMS Tuning

The shops I stay away from:

Vivid, Toy Box Auto, Dynocomp, and SRD.

I personally have nothing against any of these shops, but I have heard of WAAAY to many horror stories to even give them an arms length.

OP: Sorry to hear about this. As I said on the phone, we did the compression and leakdown test and both were fine, gave you the numbers.

The car didnt run hot at all when we had it.

The original prospective buyer who paid to have the car inspected was concerned about the health of the engine, hence the comp. and leakdown tests.

If there is anything we can do, give me a call.

Leakdown test is mandatory before buying a car like this and has to be done by the perspective buyer before he purchases. Unfortunately now it's the buyers problem if the leakdown test fails.

sometime's even a leakdown won't reveal headlift.best you can do is every possible test including chemical and hope.unfortunately mechanics don't have x-ray vision or a crystal ball,so i think the test shop should get a break.it seems they gave a reasonable opinion based on the requested test's and driving the car.

I am not saying you did not do a proper job, just that based on your posts in the sale thread I would have felt confident that this car was a valid purchase.

OP - at this point I hope that you can burp the cooling system and things get straight for you after that. Keep us posted.

Take your car to nissan and get a proper flush and fill..... I used to have this problem until i took it to nissan for the flush and fill.. most shops dont get rid of the massive air pockets etc..

Sorry to be the half empty guy. getting headwork done with a TN kit installed is just a waste of money.

I am going to guess his car is beyond a flush and fill.

If I were the new owner of this car I would be looking for a good deal on a stock long block. Install that and hopefully call it a day. I definitely would not be hunting and pecking at possible fixes, nor would I be looking to do any sort of rebuild. Just not worth it with a TN setup

single turbo is fine... yeah the fitment isnt the greatest but in the end there is still a turbo on the car. i can push it pretty far with a built motor and if I go to a stock block it will be pointless because this is the whole reason i bought a car with a built motor was because I am unsatisfied with the power. the turbo on there isnt the greatest but I am not planning on keeping it for very long... prolly gonna get the hybrid t3/t67 to make the power i am seeking.

It really doesnt seem like a inproper flush because it does drive around fine until i get on it... but only sometimes when i get on it. and for some reason last night when I was driving it up a gradual hill for like 45seconds it started to overheat. wtf!

neways its goin back to ZCG for a leakdown next week to confirm the problem.
