Default Decisions Decisions.......

Wright guys i need some input on which route to take. Im saving for the APS twin kit at the moment but need some views on how to go about it.

My first thought was, my car has almost full bolt ons at the moment but with no EMS system. I was going to get haltech platinum fitted and tuned on the motor as it is (NA) untill i have the cash for the tuner turbo kit (Older kit that uses garrett GT BB turbo's) and then have it retuned when the kit is fitted.

The problem is the tuner who maps haltech is 5mis drive from my house, BUT the APS dealer who is fitting the kit is 3 hours away and does not tune haltech?? I would need to trailer the car home from the APS dealer and drop it off at my haltech tuner to map.

I dont like the idea of not seeing the car running before i take it away from the APS dealer incase there are leak problems ect.??

The second option is to go with the full APS TT it and let the dealer fit the kit and fuel system and map it using the supplied unichip EMS?

Option 1 is the APS tuner kit with a 255LPH walbro pump and 600cc deatschworks injectors, and Haltech.

Option 2 is the APS FULL kit with APS full system and Unichip EMS, then upgrade to haltech when i have the cash ??

Im not sure which route to go guys ?? This is only a stock block build and haltech is a little over kill i know but better to have more EMS control than you need than not to have enough. My aim is 330-340RWHP on a dyno dynamics. 400ish crank HP.

HELP GUYS!! ha.

Thanks for quick reply, Option 2 is the easy way to go about it but i may build the block down the road so im not sure if the stock APS fuel system and unichip is a waste?

Why is it that the unichip is ok for low power levels but not ok for 400+WHP ??

I ran my APS TT on the unchip for a long time with absolutely no issues and was putting down more whp than you are shooting for.

I can provide you with a Haltech map that will start and run your car with the APS kit and DW600cc injectors. This will allow you to check for leaks and drive it back to your Haltech tuner.

My vote, option 1

option 1. dont waste your time with option 2. get a map from hal@IP so you can make sure there arent any leaks. then baby it home.

+1 Option 1
I myself purchased the Fcon Vpro(not haltech but example) while I was N/A and had the car tuned and flashed with Sam@GTM and then after I got bored with that, I took the dive into the FI world.

It's not a waste, it's an investment.

Hal that sound like a plan!

I would love the haltech and the 600cc det injectors because this leaves me room for if i build the block.

Hal would the base map be ok for me to drive 200miles to my haltech tuner from the APS dealer?? Just baby it off boost??

I can not guarantee, but I think you will be pleasantly surprised
I would suggest adding the wideband option, as it will clean up any AFR discrepancies on that drive to the tuner. It will continue to be valuable for tuning, and then for logging down the road.

The AEM will work just fine, it has a 0-5v output that will tie into the Haltech.

Thats great.. Im i wrong in thinking the haltech will give a better/smoother dive than on the unichip?? I want my car to be a solid and stable 320-340rwhp with good drivabilty. I know people are fine on the unichip at low power but i dont like the idea of the unichip as its a very basic EMS.

Off topic guy but any of you lot have any idea on the best place for an EGT sensor to go in the exhaust?? left bank after the cat ?? Or y pipe colector? thanks again.
