Default APS ST and EMS/Uni-chip question

Ok here is the deal, in October i had my APS ST installed, it has been running great, burning a bit of oil though and i had to use the stock exhaust until i got a new exhaust. (which i ordered today) A few weeks ago, i had a problem with my positive battery cable coming off the post, i have since fixed the problem, but before i did it happened often enough that it started setting off the service engine light and spit out a code saying there was a short to the ECU, once i fixed the issue the light never came back on.

here is the question, since then i have only been boosting up to 6psi when my former tune was set to 9psi, has the tune possibly been lost through all of the times of resetting the ECU from the cable coming off? (needed to get a new tune anyways with the new exhaust coming in but i just wanted to check)

Thanks in advance

Answer is no... look at at this way, if you did loose your tune then you should've been fvvcked even at only 6psi

nope as already mentioned

If I remember right the unichip controls boost I can see your concern that something was lost.

If not boosting you have a leak somewhere or the boost control solenoid is damaged

You need to pm Zivman. He has installed a number of these APS-ST kits over the past several years and is very familiar with the problem areas.

for the record, only 1 APS single, a full APS TT install on my car, then again when I built the motor, then again when my buddy bought his car. I have also done a Vortech kit. I don't need to get into the N/A parts I have installed because as we all know they are worthless

In regards to the OP's situation, it could be a lot of things. The fact that he had a short somewhere would make me think he could have shorted out the solenoid. He potentially could have a boost leak somewhere, which is always a potential issue. With the car burning oil, I wouldn't worry about it yet. Get your new exhaust on, that I will add, should have been installed when you originally installed the kit. Get the exhaust on, recheck your oil levels, recheck wiring the solenoid/unichip, and see where you are at

maybe.... regardless, it is hard to diagnose over the net. One ride in the car and a peak under the hood could tell me 10 pages worth of descriptive writing on the forum

Eneos 0 - 50 at the moment, just changed my oil to it.... starting to think that the really thin oils in this constant 80 degree weather that we are having might cause a slight oil burn too

+1 anything but enos. that stuff burns in the VQ, it did in mine and US HM 350z's car. i highly recommend Rotella Tsyn 5w40, Castrol Syntec 0w30 european formula or M1 0w40. amsoil is good stuff too.

aps recommends 10w40, otherwise there is possibilty of oil passing through turbo seals and heavy smoking issues, ehhh i stilll use 0w40 m1 euro but ive noticed alot more burning oil than when i used the 300vchrono motul 10w40. but the stuff is expensive!
