Default Mondo bypass valve question

Anyone know if there is any down fall in staying with the maxflow 320 cfm @ 8psi bypass Vs the mondo 550 cfm @ 10 psi bypass valve?

I will be seeing 16psi and some ppl are telling me the regular bypass valve is fine and then the vortech websites are saying it's recommended for +12psi?

I have some down time right now so I might as well upgrade stuff if I need to. I think I remember someone telling me before that the regular bypass valve might not release enough air and may cause the seal on my blower to leak? Not sure if I heard that correctly. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

Hitting 16psi will be hard with a serp belt . Im sure you have read some of my troubles doing it . i would wait to see where you end up . If you get there i would get the bigger bypass valve

Well, that's the thing... I already hit 16psi with the T trim using the timrod method and there's no slipping (knock on wood) but I was only at 420whp with a lot of timing pulled so maybe that could be the reason for no slipping.

If my memories are correct, I remember doing a few runs up to 3rd gear and once I let off the pedal I could see the rpms drop and then climb a little until the bypass valve stopped releasing the air. Is that consider normal?

i talked with vortech today and they said the maxflow should be good for around 16-17 psi and the mondo should be for those pushing +20psi. I hope he's right.

It's always better to be safe than sorry I'd still get it. You may end up regretting not getting it it later on.

A cheaper way to go is to install a second stock kit Bypass valve . Place it on the other side of the intercooler . You would need a air filter on it though .

The bigger Mondo is to big for the stock inteercooler pipes . Might have trouble welding on the flange for it .

^^thats the mondo the big one is the bv57.

i'd just weld that flange right onto the IC. then u dont need to even worry about the piping.

Thanks for the link booger.

I think Ill be sticking with the maxflow for now (unless I find the mondo cheap). I've searched around the web and it seems like ppl are saying the same stuff as it's not really needed unless u are pushing +18psi or have a cog setup like booger.
