Larry what do YOU know about tuning cars???????????????????

pfft just have the highest HP gasoline VQ, fastest 6spd VQ, another car in the top 10 (maybe even top 5 who knows these days) for highest HP VQ. Have some of the highest HP 2jz's tuned, fastest stock suspsension C5 vette, etc etc etc...........Customers sending you their cars from all over the world (litterally)........

Now maybe if Chris was gonna do the tune....

You are very welcome Brandon!!! I will be calling or emailing you soon with some graphic designs for your car!

I understand the shops discretion with a locked tune... they could have at least made him sign a waiver against liability if anything happened. We save all our tunes, If a customer had one of our tunes in his car and the car blew up... it takes 5 minutes to check the currant tune with the one we provided to see if it was altered. All I am saying is there is other ways it could have been handled. Either way, the customer left happy and will return, that is what we strive for on a daily basis.

Like I mentioned. I dont see the point in "locking" a tune at all. Especially from a "sponsored" car or someone that spent around $20k.... Point is... Customer service was horrible. E-mails prior to this event for future work took weeks to respond to..... yet i was a sponsored car.... Who cares if I spent $20k there right? I was looking into quotes for more potential upgrades there. Nothing but Vague answers really. Only time I felt treated right is when I handed the money over for the build. Even then, some things were "left Out"....I didn't expect that kind of service at all. And a simple "code" given to me would've retained me as a customer and advertiser for that company. But for now all my business and support is towards Sound performance. I didn't even spend $1,000 with Sound performance to get the treatment I've recieved and continue to recieve through conversations.....

that makes so much more sense than locking an ECU. it seems a different reason to lock the tune than to protect against misuse.

and from the way OP explained it, the customer service was basically a slap in the face as well. I bet I know the shop too.

I dont see why there is a problem with this.
what happens if the original shop closes, or stops tuning the software used?

The shop looking to retune needs to make a map from scratch vs modifying the existing map.... That is what the OP is complaining about. It can be tuned without the code, just can't be tuned based on the existing map from the previous shop

I've chosen NOT to disclose the shop so that there is no toes being stepped on or fueds. If you want to know the shop you can guess or do research. I didn't make a build thread b/c the build was never fully completed ( I.e tune..) The support and attention after I handed over the money was never the same. I even referred several people to the shop for builds. I have no problem with people adding thier .02 on my experience in this situation or if you chooose to bash "no name shop" though. Seems the thread is speaking for itself though.
