Default Stock HP question from a real noob

So I have a strong desire to let everyone know that after 4 hours there and 3 hours back I now have a beautiful 2003 Z with a 6spd manual and awesome Daytona Blue Clearcoat Metallic paint. but I have read a few post now that say something like "ok so pre (insert mod here) my numbers were "232" now there what ever I thought the base HP was 287 on the 2003 and up from there, did I miss something what are these people talking about?

287 is at the crank. 230's are at the wheels.

usually when people talk about mods/bolt-ons on here, they talk about wheel horsepower...

but if you meet some m3 at the stop sign, they will talk about crank horsepower.. on magazines/top gear they usually refer to crank horsepower

yeah dealership stickers all show crank hp...which means power at the engine and the power put to the actual wheels to make you go is obviously whp.

you bought a Z and didnt know the difference? i would do som research on here and some good reading...what ever factory hp numbers are, usually subtract around 50 hp to determine where your whp will be.

Subtract around 16-20% for MT cars

20+% for AT cars - these numbers will all vary, everybody can argue till the death over what the correct ranges can and will be.

Subtracting 50hp wont work when your talking about 150hp cars or 500hp cars

um no...every dyno has a different drive train loss, ur 50 horsepower theory is wrong and if thats what u wanna go by cool, but the proper way is to find out what that dyno is and what the drivatrain loss percentage is and do the math...
the dyno i was last on was 17%...i made 394whp (uncorrected) and that brings my crank horsepower to 460

Too bad you know absolutely nothing. 50 hp = drivetrain loss for all cars, nice gotta remember that.

^ lmao
like stated early around 50hp, not exactly....good lord

funniest thing about this forum is that if someone asked black or blue? everyone would start telling the guy "you don't know anything" "purple is better" "only ricers paint their cars that color"...everyones thread always gets bogarted and ruined...
gives this forum bad rep.

why 75% of the people use it just to search the for sale threads and read, wise not to post...get ambushed by douches
and obviously i know something, since i can spell?

i had 2jz 240sx 480whp
396whp 300zx twin turbo
now twin turbo 350z(building motor 650+whp)

Stock HR Z's can put down 265whp. Crank is rated at 306hp. That's a 41hp difference. Not 50hp.

Your estimate is almost 20% off. Your estimate is worthless. Your arguing for it is worthless. All your posts in this thread are worthless.
