OP...sorry for screwing up your thread last night.

I have the JWT C8s... excellent for top end. Pretty radical cam with a pretty radical idle. I love mine

Hey Alberto, have you posted dynos of your current setup? (I couldn't find some with a search) I would like to see the comparison of curve from before to after.

That's top secret classified information. You sir, do not have clearance for such documents.

Its not that I'm all about the numbers, I just like to see how certain specific modifications reshape the powerband--Its understandable though, some people don't care to focus on dynosheets out there on some forum.

The reason i asked was because the other dynos I have seen of BC stg 3 cams don't show a loss in the midrange, more like a loss for <3000rpms. So I was interested to see Alberto's dyno since he is a well known member of these forums (at least to me).

I was reccomended either the JWT C2s or the BC2s. I ended up with the BC2s because they were slightly less expensive and in stock. My builder and tuner advised me that either choice would be fine for the power levels I am seeking, FWIW.

I'm envious... I hope to be there with you with the JWT C8 cams. Got to sell my JWT C2's first.

You are correct in that the duration and lift numbers don't give you the full picture; there is alot more going on with a cam profile. Nonetheless, duration and lift are indeed important.

You are also correct about doing proper research. If anyone is interested in comparing two particular cams, call the manufactureres of those cams. I spent an hour on the phone with Jim Wolf on Thursday discussing my new build and my goals (JIM WOLF KNOWS HIS SHIAT ABOUT CAM DESIGN......) I have never spoken with BC, so I can't opine about his knowledge.

For my new build, Jim and I discussed the C2's and the C8's. Although the JWT C2's worked great with my Greddy's, now I definitely want the JWT C8's for my new GTM 4.0L stroker and Stage 3 TT setup.

I forget... What are the specs for the C8? IIRC, they are 272 duration and might be comparable to the BC Stage 3.

Nice power curve.

Can't wait to get my GTM 4.0L with the Stage 3 turbo kit on that puppy.

For reference, here is a comparison of various BC, GTM and JWT VQ35 cams stage 2 and up.

EDIT: I corrected the numbers for the overlaps at 0.050" lift for the JWT cams. These numbers assume the same profile for the front and rear of the cam lobes.

??? deg. Overlap at 0.050" lift

JWT S7R (VQ35 RevUp)
11.43 mm Peak Lift
225.5 deg. Dur. at 0.050" lift
262.5 deg. Adv. Dur.
5.25 deg. Before TDC Intake Opens
5.25 deg. After TDC Exhaust Closes
10.5 deg. Adv. Overlap
No Overlap at 0.050" lift (-26 deg.)

JWT C2 (VQ35DE)
11.58 mm Peak Lift
225 deg. Dur. at 0.050" lift
261 deg. Adv. Dur.

George,

Wholly smokes, I didn't realize how much duration your Stage 3 cams had. No wonder Sam kept telling me to go that route. I guess I should have checked it out.

How do they idle? Please let me know.

How many degrees of overlap? Do you have a cam profile chart?

Actually, perhaps you can let me know what your overlap is both on your Stage 2 and Stage 3 cams. I'll put those in the chart posted above.
