Damn. Sucks bro. You stated that you just installed a replacement turbo. What happened to the previous turbo?

I got tuned @ MRC... after a few months I had leaks under the oil pan... I took it to VTR and they fix all the leaks, install a new clutch and flywheel less that a month ago and also a new turbo again 2 weeks ago....

Willie, I know this sux man! but you gotta look at it this way. how much money did you just dump on her 2 weeks ago. 4gs?... and allllll the other stuff you done to her.

If you part out, your gonna end up loosing a lott... and then selling the car stock, your still going to be loosing a lot. Then... you gotta buy a new car?

I would understand if you just had the turbo kit alone, but your car has so much done to it.. sell the turbonetics ( it has new turbo so you should make decent money ) get a nice power lab kit, and the S1 short block. Thats what I would do .

worst case , find a stock motor ( i know Ed found one for like $800 ) and keep it. no reason to sell.

BTW.. if you need a ride tomorrow or a ride back, you got my number

if he wasnt in boost then its not the turbonetics fault. Maybe is the tune also check if any pins in the computer came loose i know of a guy with an AEM computer and had a fully built 2jz the engine hydro locked do to a pin in the AEM coming loose. This sounds more like a tune issue or some electrical signal got lost and the engine went boom.

Yea it does suck man but take the others advice if you put alot of money into her and you still like your car dont sell it just buy another block if you have the cash build it and put her back together and recheck all your wiring just to be on the safe side. Is to weird that your engine popped while you doing 45 mph and no boost at all and on top of it 60k mile motor.

Since the UTEC only drives the car when its in boost... if you can't blame the TN.. how can you blame the UTEC/Tune? from the sounds of it.. it sounds like either oil starvation or the motor was on its last leg.. more than likely its oil starvation.. did the filter fall off? or did something hit the oil pan? oil lines wern't tight and the line came off? oil pump fail? you wern't putting any load in the motor so sounds like the oil came out the motor and the motor seized.. thus the clank clank noise.. sound of the pistons hitting the cylinder walls with no lubrication.. the only way to know would be to tear the whole motor apart

Knowing that MRC used a DD dyno, your HP number is at the limit of the stock rods (or do you have a HR??). Were you aware that you were at the top range for max power from the stock block? If so, than what happened would have been expected. If not, then your tuner did you a bit of disservice by not making you fully aware.

If you shredded a bearing or snapped a rod, be sure to have the turbo inspected prior to re-install or sale, it may be done as well, sorry.

Dam *****, sorry to hear this happened man.. Its like a 12 step program when everyone blows there motor up. Your still in the "this is way to expensive and I regret doing it stage"..
Then after you accept it, and figure out what you have to do, build the motor with a powerlab setup, and your golden.
Just my 2$ Good luck with whatever you do.

Damn- thats crazy, sorry that happened to you. I have had my turbonetics kit on for about 6 months now, no problems but a check engine light a few times.

I am running 8psi.

I wouldnt sell the car, just rebuild it, you put a lot of money into it and wont get what your looking for in regards to returns on your investment!

going with a built motor will put you another 8- 10g deeper in the hole. Its a better option to just sell and buy a used Z thats already built. They've been going for ~20k.

TN kits create very high air inlet temps, and very high thermal loads on the engine. They are cookers for sure. I am sorry this happened. One of our customer's is selling a complete S1/Cosworth longblock setup for a great price. He never even took it out of the plastic wrap we shipped it in.
