MOTOR BLEW today
So sorry bro....
I doubt it was the UTEC hardware's fault...sounds like tune or motor issues/oil starvation. I'd be interested in what was found in a teardown
dump the TN kit this go-around
ORRR...if you need a new Nissan or Infiniti...you know who I work for and I'll give you my hookup

45mph and not on boost should have nothing to do with the turbonetics kit. as per a faulty utec maybe. but if i dont recall the utec comes on when boost starts on the motor. maybe u had a recent oil change where your filter became exessively loose on the highway or after a bump on the road or like others have mentioned your motor might of been on its last leg. if i remember correctly i saw ur car at a c.t show and u had the WOT box as well. i wish you best of luck and if u going to continue boosting do a basic setup rods pistons and arp l19s.
he wont even need L19s cuz hes not gonna be boosting enough for head lift.
And willie, i got a email from the guy, he said the 350z tranny will bolt right up and hell send me pics on monday. Cross your fingers. You might be going home with a 800 dollar motor.

Since the UTEC only drives the car when its in boost... if you can't blame the TN.. how can you blame the UTEC/Tune? from the sounds of it.. it sounds like either oil starvation or the motor was on its last leg.. more than likely its oil starvation.. did the filter fall off? or did something hit the oil pan? oil lines wern't tight and the line came off? oil pump fail? you wern't putting any load in the motor so sounds like the oil came out the motor and the motor seized.. thus the clank clank noise.. sound of the pistons hitting the cylinder walls with no lubrication.. the only way to know would be to tear the whole motor apart
This really sucks, similar thing happened to my 3.5. I kept hearing this tapping (sounded like spun bearing), but didnt think at the time it was big deal, just normal engine noise. while on the highway, i stepped on it a bit, when i let off i heard the tapping noise come back very loud this time, drove at about 20mph after that, before getting to my destination, BAM!, engine turned off, and also heard a piece of oil pan bouncing on the floor.
In my case, it seems that the junk yard 73k vq35 I put in was probably hydro locked and had a bent rod, the noise was the rod hitting the inside of the piston (moving to the side along the wrist pin and touching the piston), the rod snapped right in half, everything else was perfect. Also my tune was perfect as well, just wasnt lucky with a junk yard motor.

Thanks Ed, I also found an other one (rev-up) in LI for like around $2500
and willie, idk about you but 2500 is alot of money for stock motor. Remember, you can only use the shortblock on the revup so theres gonna be labor for disassembling and reassembling the motor.
