20g Greddys New Turbo kit = Power!!
Hey guys,
Just wanted to post up a little more about our recent experience with the New Greddy 20g TT kit for the DE motor. Pete came to us with a Greddy kit installed and needed it to be tuned. I strapped the car down this morning and Mike and I go out the laptops. We were messing around with it and for some reason the car was making 390 on 5.6 psi (Wastegate springs) Then we slowly turned the boost up and around 7 pounds it was well into the 420s!! ?? I checked everything to make sure there wasnt anything weird on the corrections at all and everything looked good. We decided to turn up the boost to 8.5 psi and the car made 455whp SAE on the Dynojet. We did this with a very modest 11.0:1 AFR and not much timing. This was the most power i have ever seen a Greddy kit make with ease on a stock motor.
After letting it cool down a little, we did another pull and the car made 465whp SAE on 8.5 psi. As i was telling the customer what it made, he then told me that it was the all new Greddy 20g kit. Have fun with the car Pete!!
Awesome results!!

That's great power and torque at such a low boost level. If he leaves it at wastegate, hopefully it will last... (a short while! ) Nexx, I don't think the torque is low, I think the hp is high - it's breathing well up top with the IC and turbo improvements (again, given that boost level).

not for 8.5 psi!
the reason the hp is so high is that this engine is breathing well up top. if you go back to the 5700 rpm range, this motor is making similar hp/torque as every other 18g greddy kit at that rpm.
I can only assume that it is the bigger turbines on the 20g setup that are allowing for the better breathing.

The car didnt knock at all while tuning. We had it set up so safe that there are no worries. I explained to him the limits, back the boost down to around 8 psi and set the boost cut at 9.2 or 9.4 psi.
It will be fine. The 20gs are awesome! They seem to make a lot more at the same boost levels and showed only a small amount more of lag.
