Default Procharger - Anyone running 12PSI without breaking belts?

I did a search and found several Posts about this, but never learned if anybody figured out how to run more than 9 PSI without breaking the belts?

I know about the AAM Procharger brace. Has anyone had any success with different brand belts?

How much PSI are you running with your Procharger?

Thanks!

How long before Jay'Z tells me to buy Twins? LOL I wish I could Jason!

why are they breaking belts? I saw that video of the brace flexing alot maybe causing the belts to stress and release.

cog belts are pretty stout. It must take a lot of crank HP to turn that charger at 12psi, if its enough to snap belts.

I run a 9 lbs. pulley Procharger and AAM brace. My Z is solid and reliable. I have not gone with the 12 lbs. pulley because of all the threads I have read where the engine has blown or the belts have shreaded. I am quite happy with the 9 lbs. setup. Remember, Your Z will never be a Corvette or a Viper. I am just happy being able to blow-away the Mustang GT crowd which my Z easily can do. Instead of fooling with the 12 lbs. pulley, I would recommend going with a turbo if you want more power. From reading these threads over the past few years, I think turbos have a higher success rate over the long-run. You will have to significantly build-up your engine though. And this will cost you big $$$. Best Regards, Zbee.

Thanks for the input. How much power are you making with 9lb Pulley setup?

My buddy has a corvette. It's fast. My Z handles better, and think the Z is better made. But the vette is definately faster, stock. If he modded it up, it would only add to my frustration. No offense intended, I love my Z.

No offense taken. I'm hoping for a little over 400whp, but I'll be happy with anything 400+. I'm gonna order some stronger belts and hope for the best!

Seems like, If the problem is the bracket Flexing. why couldn't you have that piece made out of a stronger metal? Even if its heavier it would be worth it because of the ability to make more boost.

Anyone? Anyone?

I have the AAM Bracket!! But that does not fix the problem. It makes it better but still has enough flex to pop belts at anything above 10psi.

My question was...Does anybody know if having one made out of a stronger metal would work?

So you made the bracket out of steel? I dont remember reading that in any of your post. If not, Do you think it will work? If not, why?

I am trying to work with what I have bro, If I had the money I agree TT is the way to go.

You're playing with fire, man. Stay under 10 lbs. of boost. If you don't have $$ for a TT, do you $$ for a new engine? Just be careful. Ever heard the sound of an engine throwing a rod? Believe me, you won't forget that sound! Best Regards.

I'm pretty sure my motor can handle it. Here is my setup. When I started this, I was planning on a Stock block build. Long story short...I ended up with a built block and a Procharger. I just dont have the $$$ to sell the Procharger and buy the TT setup. I'm just trying to make the best I can with the Procharger for now, but my block will hold way more than 400WHP.

so you already have the brace? well besides going 1 off custom, you've exhausted all the normal routes.

looks like choices are to sell or be happy where you are. why not just add nitrous?

I'm just wondering out of all the threads on Procharger belts breaking. Why nobody mentioned the idea of just making a stronger bracket that doesnt flex?

Am I missing something here?

If I'm stuck with the procharger, I might as well make the best of it!
