thinking of a turbo z with problems
#41
Trade your car in for a stock or lightly modded Z then put a turbo on that it will be cheaper in the long run.
I have a feeling your going to buy this car. Let us know what was wrong if you do.

In for the youtube/streetfire links of OP crushing unsupecting V8s .

Well I could not get in touch with who I think was the owner. What I did find out was the car was fine when it was traded in. Someone took it home and when it came back the issue occured. From what I was told the boost controller was set @ 18psi when it was set to 8psi at first. So I think this will be helpful.

- just laughing at the OP starting this thread and every F/I regular has told him to just walk away from this car, but the OP is still trying to justify why its a good deal.
OP just wants someone to tell him to buy this car, since he will probably do it anyway and put a rod through the block on the way home. Since the OP knows so much more than everyone else, we should just give him the green light and let him enjoy the car for the 5 minutes it runs before BOOM.

Yes!!!!!!!!!!! There is a God. j/k j/k
Seriously, Currin you did the best thing. I can only imagine the headache the buyer now has to go through to correct the potential dangers that await
You're probably going to luck out even better afterall. How's your Z search coming along?

Count your blessings. If you had bought that car, you would have been getting into way more money than you think, even if you're uncle did the work at a discount.
Always remember, performance parts for Nissan VQ motors cost a whole lot more than performance parts for Chevy V8's. Sad, but true.
As others have said, take a look at some of the cars being sold in the forum. Better yet, buy a new 370Z and twin turbo it. You could get well north of 400 rwhp if properly done, depending on how hard you want to push it (and what dyno it's being measured on).
Another option, dare I say in this forum, is the Camaro SS. Twin turbo that puppy and you could get even more power to the ground (and probably with less cash).
