Surely that diff issue is nothing a dremel and a cutting disc couldnt fix. Its not ''gash'' im sure it would be/look fine, working with aluminium and all.

Hi mate, unfortunately it wasn't just something to be done with a dremel. And the fins that we tried to cut were off the main diff casing, not the aluminium rear casing (which we then swapped back onto the new casing). Let's just say for whoever does a conversion in the UK, not to get the HKS Hi power exhaust they sell in the US, regardless of what they tell you

right then...!

Picked my baby up this afternoon. First impressions: it's like driving a car that can't really restrain itself much, it's so eager to boost! I have a 4k RPM limit and also a fuel cut at about 0.4BAR of boost for safety, and it's so easy to hit it! car drives really well, tomorrow I'm off to RS Tuning in Leeds to get the idle bumped up and the speed limiter "eliminated" with Osiris.

No sign currently of the CEL light related to the O2 rear pass side sensor, which is good news.

The "bad" news is that I have an "airbag" warning light flashing, Dennis tried to get rid of it with no luck, it wasn't throwing any codes though, weird.

Workmanship is undoubtedly high quality, didn't come cheap (to date I spent about £13k in labour/installation and about £12k in parts, and I still need to get the tuning sorted etc!) so this type of projects isn't for the faint hearted, or the light wallets!

Car is noisier than before, as expected, but I'd divide the noises in 2 categories, the good ones (the dump valve is awesome!) and the bad ones (the clutch chatter), but not much.

Looking forward to see what numbers it'll put down!!

The airbag light might be related to the steering angle sensor, that was my issue when I pulled my motor.

There is a sequence of pedal and ignition key turn sequences that gets rid of it. Sharif did it for me. I think that light comes on if any of the srs harnesses are unplugged while the battery is connected.

that's true about the SRS harnesses and I knew that cause, but upon asking they mentioned that they never unplugged the Airbag sensors nor taken off the seats. Mind you, if Sharif can tell me the sequence (it's not the standard ECU reset, is it?) I can surely try.

Goblin, how about your own light??

Let me know when! Think I'm going to Blackpool tomorrow with the Japnorthwest guys.

Oh and now idle bumped up to 1k RPM and speed delimited, well to 322mph, should be enough I think ahahah

how do you like the HKS exhaust on that TT setup? the 60mm piping deterred me from using it... but really curious about it, can you post exhaust clips please?

at the time I had pretty much no choice, nothing else was in stock anywhere! I wanted the APS 3" but couldn't get one.
Currently it's pretty quiet (bear in mind I can't rev over 4k rpm ahah) but what pulled it off for me is the titanium tips, which are perfect on my BD Z!!

Any point in posting a vid of the exhaust revving from standing to 4k RPMs? If interested I'll do a video. Also, I have APS 2.5" decats too.

Default To the PE people out there

hey guys thought I'd hop in, I have an 04 g35c 5at, I recently botched a SFR tranny swap so she was off to JE imports in Baltimore maryland. Anyhow she was running 315hp (on a dyno dynamics) and hitting 12.8 consistently at the track with street tires and mild launches.
So the upper oil pan was cracked and I had a spare VQ35de in the garage (dont ask) so the motor had to come out anyway... I decided to do the internals, right now going in are tomei H-beam rods and Wiseco 8.8 two mm over pistons with valve reliefs and coating. Cometic head gaskets L19 head studs and arp mains. I'm Doing ACL bearings but the wall I hit is similar to yours. I really want to see your numbers because I'm trying to decide if I want to do up the heads. I want that 500hp number. I'm thinking 14psi will get me into the mid 4oo's. The plan is to do Tomie 272 `10.5 cams and Supertech 1mm over valves with their springs. I do love the monster midrange power asociated with the spool on those IHI 1420s an AR20 turbo has it's benefits... even if it is just a little guy. It was nice that someone posted the turbo upgrade that Philthy did I had seen it on U-tube but was wondering what those gt28s turbos were. Did he just do the compressor side or was that the whole turbo???

Waiting to see your numbers while my engine is still at the machine shop

hoping to be able to get numbers before winter sets in, but can't guarantee!! I really need to redo the IC Y pipe, it's so restrictive!

So, plan of action is:

1- get to 5-600 miles
2- change oil and filter
3- do another 500-miles or so (maybe less as I'll have a 230 miles trip to the tuner...)
4- take the bumper off, and remove the IC Y pipe
5- get it to someone (yet to be found) to fabricate a freer flowing Y pipe
6- drive to London to get it mapped!

You're doing cams too, so your numbers should be thoeretically higher already than what I'd put down anyway

The good news for me currently is that I have checked the oil twice already and I don't seem to be using any at all...

no oil consumption=good day, yeah the conversation now is to do a 272 cam or a 264 and to go with Brian Crowler or Tomei... I'll have to search out some numbers on both good luck Mate

Ok, basically finished running the engine in, I've just taken the front bumper off and dismantled the IC Y pipe and now I need to find a good place to get one fabricated that is much more free flowing than the std one which was really badly designed.

To date the car drives really well, the clutch isn't too bad but I have to most probably change the fluid (I don't think the clutch fluid has ever been done on my Z, I think it's been overlooked!) because the clutch pedal drops to the floor after multiple stop/starts when queueing. It happened twice and both time when the car has been sitting in traffic, I think it's a heat issue.

I have a CEL light that keeps popping up (P1289) and the airbag light that keeps popping up too. I've invested in this http://www.scangauge2.co.uk/ just today, as I have not got a trip computer anymore and yesterday I nearly ended up with no petrol while crossing the Pennines! The car drinks sooo much more than I remember... This should also help clearing these pesky codes...
