350z power transistor
hi
Does the 350Z have an external ignitor or a power transistor, where can i find it plz?
or is it direct signal from the ECU to the coils ?
thanks

The coils have the power transistor integrated - sits directly above the plugs. There is a single 12V line that feeds all 6 coils and also feeds the intake cam solenoids, and I think also the evap solenoid. There is a high frequency capacitor (condensor) in line with that wire. You can see the rectangular plastic casing on the passenger side of the plenum within the main wiring harness. This is on my 04.5 G35. (350Z is similar I presume).
It's all in the ec.pdf FSM.

Only took me about 5 hours to complete. You can still see the wires to the cam control and the ignition coils as expected. Other than that everything is run much cleaner than factory.
THe condensor is a rectangular brown box that is on the +12v wire that goes to all the coils. It is located on the passenger side right above #3 cylinder. If you havent touched your harness then it is usaully under a layer of electrical tape.
WARNING: Do not remove the condensor. Your ignition system needs this to operate properly for an extended period of time.
